But now, if he starts sucking, we're screwed.
Or, or... Now hear me out on this.... The Leafs could trade him to Florida for next to nothing..

I don't think Burke's gonna make a stupid trade and give up the future for Luongo... but with the new rules in place, it's not a smart move, IMO.
I would have been ok with it before the lockout, at a decent price(like the one you mentioned)... but that was when he could just be waived(mind you, I still thought that we would need to send over a cap-dumpl like Komi).
But now, if he starts sucking, we're screwed. - Feeling Glucky?
Burke wont give up the future for Lou.
If Burkes gives up the future, it will be for Schneider.
Either way, the Leafs need a real goalie if they have any chance of making the playoffs. Look at the teams in the playoffs in the east....they have quality goaltenders, if they ( being 1 or 2 teams) dont, then they have great forwards and D. |

Something in the water around Edmonton. Clouts is saying Schultz will get 100 points...and he was only slightly joking. |

What's with all the hype around Schneider?
His # look identical to Reimer's over 68 games...and he played on a vastly superior team.....and he had Luongo as a saftey net....
Schneider is not a proven #1 starter. |

They wanted a 50 game schedule, so you'd play each division rival 5 times, all others in your conferece 3.
But from everything I've heard, looks like they will have to chop it down to 48. It will be interesting to see how they make the math work.
It was so much easier in the olden days: 8 games against every other team in the Norris, 3 against everyone else. 80 games.
And we still sucked. |

Those darn professional scouts eh?
But seriously, he controls the net much better than reimer, has better positioning and skills.
I'll give him that. |

Any word on how the Cap will be effected by guys who "defect"? The Luongo Rule really should be called the Kovalchuk Rule ...his contract is even more ridiculous. |

ok maybe not, but the gap is much closer than before..
many scouts were saying if Rielly didnt bust his knee he would have been in top 3 discussion, ahead of murray as well
its really going to be all about how they develop |

Not sure what you are asking - guys who stay in Europe?
I can't see that happening - no way Russia allows KHL to piss off IIHF and NHL, as decision on NHL players going to Sochi still up in the air. IIHF's position is that guys need to return to honour contracts.
If your question is about guys with 6+ contracts retiring, Elliott Friedman broke it down in his blog. |

I'm not saying he's not better...or that he doesn't have potential. I'm only frankly concerned with what he's produced. And from a pure production standpoint (which is what the NHL is about), he's performed just as well (maybe a little better) than Reimer while playing on a superior team with a bonafide #1 supporting him.
I'm not saying he's a bust...just that he has a lot more that he needs to show me before I declare him a #1. And most professional scouts also thought Daigle was a bonafide franchise player...they also didn't think a couple of Euro kids named Datsyuk or Zetterberg were worth much.
Pro souts are like the weather man...when they get one right, they become delicate genius'....but when they're wrong....oh well that's just bc the weather is unpredictable... |
