" Mason Raymond part of a serious deal", We'll add raymond for free , but in all honesty he did get 25 goals 2 seasons ago if he was in toronto he would get 5.5mil |

Theodore and Markstrom are good enough. We don't need that bum Luongo, Vancouver would have to settle for close to nothing if he comes to Florida.
Vancouver on the down turn
Florida rising as one of the best teams in the NHL.

Clark MacArthur would have been 3rd for goals on the Canucks last year. If he was a Canuck he would get a 12 year deal. |

So if Luongo is traded before the season starts, or before the deadline, his new team still has the option to buy him out after the season, correct? |

I think this is the most logical post on the matter. - systemtool
I'm a little confused about one thing in the new CBA though. Assuming Lu gets traded to Toronto and retires(not due to injury) with 3 years remaining on his contract. So even though hes been a Maple Leaf for many years at that point, his cap hit would then be added to Vancouver's cap, correct?
Seems to me that this would make him more intriguing to a team like Toronto since they wouldn't have to worry about being stuck with that cap hit. If I'm Gillis, there's no way I move him then. I'd play the year out and use the amnesty buyout option on him and just hope he goes to a team in the East. |

Good point. I believe so, and it also makes him more intriguing for a team that wants a goalie for this season and next that could then buy him out. Like a 2 year rental. |

I could see a deal like this :
To Vancouver :
Shawn Horcoff
Linus Omark
To Edmonton :
Roberto Luongo
2nd Round Pick
Vancouver gets a serviceable center who can help out on the PK & PP, especially while Ryan Kesler is out with an injury. And as he only has two more seasons left on his contract, they could potentially buy him out if he's not fitting in. They also get a young offensive forward with "potential" in Omark.
Edmonton obviously gets a starting goalie to help out their young team. The Oilers would then turn around and deal Devan Dubnyk in the summertime in a package deal for some defensive help.
I can't see these two teams making this deal, to be honest, but (in my head) it does make sense. I'd hate to see Dubby go, but to get a true #1, it may be something the Oil would have to consider. |

I wouldn't mind MacArthur but I think hes more of a 3rd liner on a contending team and we already have Higgins and Hansen as very good 3rd line wingers. Kulemin would be great but I highly doubt Burke would do that. |

Correct...
The problem is if he turns into a flop and refuses to retire...A team cant even waive his ass and is stuck with him until retirement...That could be several yrs.....
Funny thing is the team who trades for him and the nucks could both end up screwed...
