I posted this on Esplens blog a few hours ago and think it is fair value for everyone involved
Toronto: Kulimin
Edmonton: HARTIKAINEN, 3rd
Edmonton needs another Russian for Yaks, Kulimin a great defensive forward who could be amazing if he gets his offense back. Toronto brings in another good solid prospect who will fit in nicely in 13/14 or 14/15 for cheap once older players and bad contracts leave
Toronto: Mcarthur, Franson 3rd(Edmonton)
Vancover: Lu, Raymond
Toronto gets their goalie and fills out there third line nicely with Vancouver getting the value they are looking for. pick can be made a conditional second if Mcarthur doesn't resign. - shill-17
Edmonton's not gonna give up their only big, gritty winger with potential to be a solid top six contributor that easily. |

There is no way they buy Luongo out... So sick of hearing that option come summer. It makes zero sense why waste 40.5 million when teams will take him for a couple of new nets... thats called bad business and no way Gillis is that dumb - wylie61
$5.2mil cap hit after he retires for the Nucks....
I bet Nuck management/ownership looking real hard at the buyout option... |

You better think that over. Cap geek hasn't updated it. Lu losses half of his salary from this yr, no? And all of it will be gone when buyouts occur, no?8 - Bieksa#3

No thanks. Bozak is the only player there. At least when you throw in Kadri, komi becomes the 2nd worst part of the deal. Kadri is about as useful as tlts on a tomcat - Bieksa#3
Canuck fans are "rich".. as in rich smelling. Kadri is useles... Raymond is god...we get it
or not.
It is really really simple. Luongo is not worthless as a player - he just doesn't have much if any trade value because of the wonderous contract that he signed with Vancouver. For Vancouver to now escape that contract (which Vancouver signed) they are not going to be magically rewarded because they have decided that Lou is now their second best goalie. Read this part - no one cares how much or how little Vancouver values Luongo.
I'll repeat it again - so those who have smoked too much today or those who's heads are soft from all the rain don't get it. "No one cares how much or how little Vancouver values Luongo".
His trade value (or lack thereof) will be based on the impact of his ridiculously long contract. Period - end of story. The man is owed what 45-50 million bucks against a reducing CAP. Bad business decision. To get out of that bad business decision - you are not going to be rewarded.
Welcome to someone else's less "bad" contract.
PS When you are having your mind-blowing emotional reaction to this.... please re read before you say something dumb (again). |

Im one of the few people in Toronto who wouldn't mind seeing Luongo in town... mostly because he is my favorite goalie in the NHL and he makes them a playoff team, just not a cup contending team. He does have a terrible contract but oh well they will just buy it out near the end. He can also mentor Reimer (unless he heads the other way) and i think it would be what's best for Toronto because they can go back to winning and re-establish a winning culture here.
As for the actual deal i wouldn't mind seeing
Luongo+Raymond
for
Bozak+Ashton+2nd or 3rd+mid level prospect |

a gritty prospect is not worth a defensively solid top 6 nhl winger, even when he isnt producing offensively. if he gets back to even 20 per this would be a great deal for Edmonton as there is no guarantee that he will become anything beyond a strong 3rd liner. |

OK... according to CapGeek.com, Luongo is owed roughly 47.3 Million dollars, making his but out roughly 31 Million dollars.
Why the hell would a team dump 31 Million on a guy instead of trade him at a loss, it makes no sense.
Luongo moves or stays, he won't be bought out. - gstrandberg
