Holidays were ok, daughter couldn't get time off work so she couldn't come up, 17 people for supper Christmas day. It was pretty crazy but it's the first time in a quite a while that any of my brothers and I have been together for something like that.

Yeah it was, my parents, two of my brothers, two neices, the in-laws and a few other odds and sods. I'm kinda torn on the hockey being back thing, not so sure I'm gonna watch or spend on it at this time anyhow.

Komi and a 3rd?

Seriously, if the offers were similar although perhaps better than what the Kings have reportedly been getting for Bernier than no dice.

Yet, if Schneider doesn't develop immediately into 'the guy', I will always wonder if Lu would have been the better choice for another championship run before the Sedin window closes??? Who the hell knows?

I get what you are saying... but here is another problem that the Canucks management has already created for themselves. They picked Schneider over Luongo- so Schneider is the defacto #1... they've made that call. In their opinion Schneider is ready - whether he proves to be is another point all together. And all this does is create an increasingly ugly situation for Gillis to continue to mis-manage. Luongo's value - from a trade perspective continues to decline NOT increase. If the Canucks hang onto him, thinking they'll deal him at the deadline - well then he's played and played well and that brings Schneider's #1 into question. If he hasn't played, and the Canucks haven't moved him, his value goes down again.. as the team acquiring him doesn't have the benefit of a full 48 game season with him. Either way Canucks lose... if they get to the offseason and still have him - his value decreases again.

For someone his age, it is WAY to long a contract. Not just a little too long, WAY too long. It was a terrible contract before. And now, with the cap advantage buyback clauses in the new CBA, it's an abysmal contract.

His age? He is in his prime as far as I'm concerned. I am the same age as Luo and I am stronger and healthier than I was between 25 and 28. I may not be an athlete any more but he is. See if you could convince him that "His age" is an issue. You won't convince me. Six years from now the way his contract is structured I see it as a non issue. Its sad that Vancouver has to trade him. Some fans may have lost the faith but the intelligent ones have not. He is still an elite goaltender. The team who gets him will probably get the best of the deal. Sad day when he's gone.

right back at you.

He’s well past his prime. If you honestly believe that he’s in his prime at 34 or 35 years old, you out 100% completely out to lunch. If you get two years out of that, that brings him to 36 or 37, and that’s retirement age for well over 95% of players. The number of players that make it past that age in the NHL is miniscule.

And I have no idea why you would say six years from now his contract won't be an issue. I can only assume you really don't understand anything about the salary cap.

We have Kovalev possibly coming to us since he's in camp. We can't have Luongo, too. The average age on our team cannot exceed 27.

Done deal with Toronto......Bozak, Frattin and a 2nd. Think people in Vcr will initially be upset, but all in all a decent return. I have to believe there are more trades to come, but like the upside of Frattin, and Bozek is a decent fill in @ #2 C, and a good fit in the #3 C spot when Kessler returns. Ridding the team of the Luongo contract will be huge come trade deadline time. Gives team tons of depth for condensed schedule.
