I don't see how a shorter season benefits the flames who are full of slow starters. Whether the season starts in October or January, my money is on those players still starting slow - especially after an even longer layoff. Flames are already a pretty big stretch to get the 8th playoff spot and get swept, but a slow first 10 games by some of their major players will seal their fate early on.

I think Cevenka will be out for a while.

So bump Backlund to the 2nd line, Stajan to the 3rd and Jones the 4th. You could actually swap Stajan and Jones but I think Hartley will give Stajan at least a third line chance to start the season.
