he seemed at the least non-committal. Horcoff is the exact kind of player that could have benefitted from exploring contract restructuring. Lecavalier is another guy as well. It really depends on whether Yaks and Schultz have soaring Calder calibre seasons. If they score 25 and 15 points respectively (as they may well in a short season) then we could still have moolah for two years of Horcoff.
I'd have to think that any smart GM would be holding Horcoff hostage right now: "You've made your money. If you want to be around for a cup run in two years, you better be willing to do it for 1.5 million a year." Not the best decorum coming out of a lockout, but if the alternative is sending old husky-eyes packing it might be the kind of thing he responds to.
