I'm not sure if I could HATE Subban any more than I already do but if he puts on a Flyers jersey we will find out. The Pens should sign Jamie Benn!!! Screw it we had a lockout but now we're going to start throwing money at players again!!! I love the NHL - lloyd095
just curious, why do you hate subban? because he chirps back at the mouthy Richards who have been in the league longer than him? mike richards? joffrey lupul? those female doges and the other ones who decided to hate him in the league are just mad they don't get to treat rookies like poop.
Also, this 'old boys club' poop the players try and pull is the same crap that had this lockout extended so long. Hamrlik speaks his mind and suddenly his team rep 'doesn't know if he can trust him on the ice anymore'.
the situations seem unrelated, but its that whole mob mentality that is complete garbage. I hope Subban skates around giving every one of these tenured bumholes the finger every game.
the kid plays good, he's exciting, he has a personality (as opposed to the pseudo scripted 'uhh, we have to give it our all.. uhhh.. its a team game.. uhhh .. just got to get shots on net.. uhhh' interviews all the other dummies are always giving). And if he doesnt respect people like 'blindside headshot on david booth, party all night and forget team rules' Richards, good for him.
..isn't it nice not to be talk about HRR and escrow etc again?
I said the same thing earlier. It wasn't but a couple of years ago he was considered one of the top goalies in the league. If not for the numbers on his contract i would love to have him as Marty's replacement in Newark, once marty hangs them up. - WayneZ
oh for sure.. im a fan of carey price, so i kind of want him to stay on the habs for a long time and think he's great. recognizing that bias.. if Price wasnt there, i would for sure want luongo

Mike Richards is a terrible hockey player. Subban has nothing to learn from a scrub like that. I agree, there's no need to respect your fellow competitor.
So when is Subban's next scheduled scrap in practice with his teammates again.

don't be foolish, that happens on most if not all NHL teams, between stars and scrubs alike. If you want, i can look up some examples for you.

Not sure why people think players have to be likable to be valuable. I would be hard pressed to name a more clutch post season performer than Claude Lemieux, and he was one of the most hated dudes in the league.

also, Mike Richards can play the game, and he's good at it. but he's no moral authority, not by a long shot. If he were giving him pointers on how to score goals or something it would be different.
But when Mike Richards starts talking about 'respect' and other players' lack of it? yeah, tell the hypocrite to shut the hell up.

Can you look up recurring examples?
Listen, kids got all the talent in the world, but he is a head case (hopefully only in his youth). You will never hear of me defending a King's player when they do something that falls outside of my ideal realm of hockey ethics. Brown was may favorite player until I saw him take a dive a couple years back. Doughty is a whiner when the refs don't see things his way...ect. I just hope that maturation remedies these habits.
The same goes for Subban. I really wanna like the kid. I really do as he is an awesome young talent, but he has to earn my respect first.
I believe my opinion on this matter is shared by his fellow competitors.

totally agree. ulf sammualson comes to mind as well. not necassarily in the 'clutch playoff performer' catagory, but as hated, but good player. to a lesser extent, kasperitis.
i'll even go as far as to say, even though i cant stand either marchand or lucic, they are effective. what i don't like is the hypocracy of people who think antics like marchand punching people in teh face after a whistle is 'good hockey', yet subban telling mike richards to 'go (frank) himself' or whatever was some grevious insult to the name of hockey.

alright, i can accept that. but i also think it is likely more common elsewhere than you think. love them or hate them, montreal is under a microscope. and we'd be more likely to hear of it from there than elsewhere.
i can respect the fact you stick to your guns concerning players from your own team though. kudos.

If you are referring to one hit, then fine. On the other hand, plenty of his current teammates on the Kings (after only one season) have spoken endlessly about his leadership and respect for the game. Since he came to L.A., he has displayed nothing but sportsmanship and team mentality. Stevey Y seemed to agree with them about this also.
I, like most Philly fans, have come to love his display of heart on the ice.

I think the trade made him grow up pretty quick. He had it pretty good in Philly and I bet he didn't expect to be traded.

i get that, and i would argue the same in Subban's defense. i do think a lot of it boils down to opinion, and perhaps overexposure. Asshattery aside, Subban should know better, especially from a PR standpoint. .. if he cared. what either or any of us thought.
bottom line, i like him, many do not. GM's and Players don't give a flying crap about what we think anyway.
