Damn, I think I've been in Raleigh too long. All I can hear in my head when I watch this is the chorus to "Cotton Eye Joe" looping over and over.

NHL sends memo to clubs indicating no camps before Saturday (and may not open until Monday), 48-game season to begin Jan. 19

- Symba007

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: NHL sent out memo to teams tonight saying Jan 19 puck drop is most probable, however if ratification process goes fast, Jan 15 still in play.

So the NHL is hoping they can squeeze in an extra couple of games per team, but most likely won't start til the 19th.

just curious, why do you hate subban? because he chirps back at the mouthy Richards who have been in the league longer than him? mike richards? joffrey lupul? those female doges and the other ones who decided to hate him in the league are just mad they don't get to treat rookies like poop.

Also, this 'old boys club' poop the players try and pull is the same crap that had this lockout extended so long. Hamrlik speaks his mind and suddenly his team rep 'doesn't know if he can trust him on the ice anymore'.

the situations seem unrelated, but its that whole mob mentality that is complete garbage. I hope Subban skates around giving every one of these tenured bumholes the finger every game.

the kid plays good, he's exciting, he has a personality (as opposed to the pseudo scripted 'uhh, we have to give it our all.. uhhh.. its a team game.. uhhh .. just got to get shots on net.. uhhh' interviews all the other dummies are always giving). And if he doesnt respect people like 'blindside headshot on david booth, party all night and forget team rules' Richards, good for him.

..isn't it nice not to be talk about HRR and escrow etc again?

Damn man sorry that was a hell of a read!!! I almost feel bad writing that I hate Subban because cut Staal with his skate!!!!

It will be interesting. I could see a lot of trades, or none at all. The last few trade deadlines have been less than expected.

I am with you on this.

The Flyers need dmen.

The Leafs need a goalie.

The Sabres need to start unloading some the surplus of dmen to make room for players like Brennan/Mcnabb/Pysyk.

Leopold/Sekera/Regehr in play ? Possibly. Just too many NHL ready demen, Darcy needs to do something. Brennan or Pysyk can do what Sekera and Leopold can do, perhaps better? Mcnabb takes Regehr's spot.

I just realized our opening night 3rd pair is Lilja and Gervais and that our two good young D men in the AHL(Bourdon and Gustafsson) are both out injured for quite a bit. This isn't going to go well.

-Please trade Bobby Lu to Toronto. Demoralizing him multiple times a year would be awesome!
-Bring on BuffaLOL now! I can't wait to see Pylon Scott get wrecked and humiliated. Also I hope Lucic hits Miller again.

08:13 AM ET 01.07 | How soon before the main storyline in Vancouver involves trading Roberto Luongo? After leaving the Toronto organization to become the assistant general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Rick Dudley claimed the Maple Leafs, with the same roster they had last spring, would be a playoff team if they had solid goaltending. Roberto Luongo certainly would fit that bill. And, amidst all this Luongo-to-Toronto speculation, this could very well be a case of "where there's smoke, there's fire." ... While general manager Brian Burke has denied a report from last fall that indicated that a Luongo trade already had been worked out and would be implemented once a new CBA had been ratified, there is no doubt that the Leafs and Canucks have had serious discussions.

Pysyk and Mcnabb will play in the AHL this year. Brennan will probably not clear waivers.

I do not like it, UFA day will basically be ruined by reports the week prior stating a tentative agreement has been reached, will sign July 1st.

Also will likely be a lot more sign and trades, for the extra year on the contract. Basically it will be like NBA free agency.

Gretzky was traded, NOBODY is untouchable.
- Symba007

How long are people gonna say that one for? Yes it's physically possible ANYONE could get traded, that doesnt mean GM's are willing to trade everyone.. Couts for Subban is not a deal I would ever consider..
Read, Lilja and a pick/prospect for Subban seems more realistic but odds are Montreal signs him.
