Agreed, man, in my opinion Mackinnon was near invisible from the games I seen, I don't think this will greatly effect his draft ranking, but he was not utilized in the right way at all imo

Mackinnon should be fine. But Seth Jones is an animal. I love how everyone laughed at him when he said the USA were the best team this year. Then he backed it up.

I thought Jones was extremely underwhelming tbh.

Trouba was a man among boys through most of the tournament. It took me a while to come around, mostly because I really didn't want anything to do with last year's team.

All in all, the US trolling needs to stop. It was a great tournament. It always has been. I started watching religiously back in 2009 when I got out of college, and a job, and a TV package that allowed me to watch the NHL Network here in the US. This US team was fun to watch, and largely because of goaltending, looked better than most, if not all teams in this tournament, even in the games they lost. However, Canada still dominates this sport and will continue to do so for some time. They may not have the greatest players in these competitions, but they will almost always have more of them (i.e. depth).

That being said, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this along with Canada snapping its medal streak. Canada has had the US' number. Even in 2010, when they won gold in Saskatoon, they blew a 2 goal lead in the round robin game, and in the Championship game as well. The Canadians have been in their heads for a long, long time. It finally felt good to see the US not only beat them, but jump out to a great start, and then step on their throat instead of letting the Canadians back in it. I think that will go a long way for USA Hockey. However, the tides will turn again. Canada will have a team that utterly dominates this tournament in the near future. They're too deep and have too many good programs not to.

The US is catching up. More kids are playing in areas that previously did not have players playing. I am going to put together an in depth breakdown on the topic in the next few days.

There's no doubt that the US is catching up. However, we'll always be a multi-sport country. You are always going to have kids playing football, baseball, basketball, and even sports such as soccer and lacrosse, and excelling at them as well. In Canada, hockey will always be "the sport", and that's going to be an advantage they are going to have. I imagine that Hockey Canada will take a step back and re-examine their process, and they'll have the pressure to do so. Then again, if you look at the US in 2010 and 2013, and compare them to their performances in years prior, perhaps operating in the shadows is good thing.

No doubt but in 20 years when US population is around 350 million you don't need hockey to be "the sport". Just need numbers to continue to climb.

Any GM that passes over Seth Jones in this draft needs to be fired. First overall. No question
- Ridin' in T-Dot

So if there is no season and everyone gets equal shot at first overall, should we expect the lottery to be rigged for Phoenix this time around, or is Mario still under Gary's desk?
