I dont disagree there. But its the real world. Here in Toronto, garbage collection has been cut off due to labour disputes. Now teachers are close (i believe) to striking/walking off the job.

Its a sad reality, but it is a reality that people need to accept, right or wrong. Employers/Employees have to take care of their best interests too.

but this is the entertainment industry. it is in their best interest to keep their product on the ice/TV and their brand as popular, and in the public mind, as possible.

if the season is lost, any gains made in the CBA will be lost from their absense. this is the crux of their idiocy.

if they settle this, they will get off most scott free.

Roman Hmralik is a (frank)ing hero represents the true voice of the players (well 10 or so them anyway).
- Canada Cup

Then there's no way to ever know the true results.

They might be accurate, however, if the vote was 351-349, it might show how divided they are. Do they had to show a lobsided result.

The truth though is for at lease 200 players, a DoI means the loss of jobs. So there's no way they would have said yes if they are educated at all.

the PA wants 2 buyouts but wants them outside the system. This way they can make twice the money.
It's like me asking you to buy my car, then asking you to buy me a new one.

- l3ig_l2ecl

I beleive it was the Owners that offered 2 buy outs instead of one.

, Fehr wants a duover because he knows he's screwed and voting on a a new DOI will take too long.

If this is true , then the PA shot themselves in the foot (not that it already happened).

- Alexzanki

Voting on a new DOI is exactly what is happening.

I might be wrong, but from what I heard, the original request fromthe PA was 2. The NHL wanted 0. The NHL said 1, and now are OK with 2.

We dont know that for sure. In order for them to lose jobs, an owner has to be willing throw away his multimillion dollar investment. Just because a team/owner wants out, it doesnt mean relocation or a new owner wont be interested.

This whole mess is more complicated than any of us know...Also, who is to say that many of those guys cant play in europe/KHL? The AHL?

The head of the Union can deside to file for a Disclaimer of Interest for which they would no longer represent the players.

The vote is useless, because Fehr can file a DOI with or without the players approval. The vote is a PR attempt to show how united the players are and to put pressure on the Owners.

The only other positive for the players out of a vote is when they fight the NHL in court. The players can say that X amount of players were OK with Fehr to file a DoI since negotiations were going no where.

No joke, the wife and I shop there the most unless we need meat. Best prices!

Fehr cant know/meet all 700. He represents them as a whole, but the union has reps within to deal with all its members and pass information on. Crosby is the "face" of the league, so to speak, so he is a different animals. Fairly or unfairly, like it or not. I somewhat agree.

I shop there during cottage season. I just think "We can't be beat prices" is funny slogan. Those words would never fly in that order American english.

The slogan here is slightly different. Its "We wont be beat". If you bring in proof that an item is being sold for less elsewhere, excluding sale items, they'll match that price. Who does that anyways?

It does mean that there is no season this year. It means that those with 1 year contracts will be no longer under contract. There's a strong chance that all contracts become void.

There's an even equal chance that next year there would be no season either without a CBA.

None of that explains why you said a DOI means 200 jobs are lost.

200 players would likely be replaced with lesser contracts, or replaced with younger, better, cheaper players.

so no, maybe not loss, but worst for them

You know, while we're on the topic of reliable sources on the Twitter machine....I've hardly seen any tweets posted here by Bob McKenzie

Seems odd....

he's been covering the WJC. but even before that, he's not been a source of much information. probably more connected than all of them put together but he seems to have no interest in this mess.
