Meh, baseball season's on in 3 months.

I'll gladly trade a few nuclear winters for a few Blue Jay's World Series titles.

Didn't the cap do just that, weaken the bigger teams and make the smaller teams more ability to compete? Revenues are higher and grew faster after missing a whole year and a pretty terrible American economy. A healthy league is good for all teams.

I agree totally that a healthy league is good for all teams. I just don't see the Owners plan achieving that. The Cap grew every Season since it was put in, if I'm not mistaken. The drop in Cap space that the NHL wants is unprecedented in major sports with a Cap. And with revenue growing at a record pace, a lockout is a great plan to bring that to a screeching halt.

Yes it is unprecedented. Doesn't make it bad.

The cap grew every season, and that was part of the problem. Lowering the cap will make most, if not all teams be able to reach the floor without going in to the red. A 50-50 split will help them keep up with revenue growth. Competitive balance allows the weaker teams to compete and attract new fans.

And the lockout argument, isn't that what everyone said last time? The league came back stronger. These are long term investments for the owners. Short term losses for long term gains is worth it.

I see it as being bad. The big problem was that the small market teams couldn't keep up with the Cap growing. So the solution is to lower the Cap, and punish the large market teams. I see that as a bad idea. Find a way to allow the large market teams to do what they want to do, within reason. As I find a 70M Cap is plenty of money to build a team. Without forcing the small market teams to have to spend more then they can afford. I don't see this CBA building competitive balance. I guess time will tell on that.
I hope you're right and that the NHL picks right up where it left off, when play resumes as far as revenue growth goes.

Im no spring pup either, in my 30s. I dont party much either, and Pubs are my idea of a good time, and fun night. Especially talking sports and checking out chicks that would never give me the time of day.

YES you are my brother from another mother. I'm 44 but even when I was 20, hot chicks never gave me the time of day. Why would they now? So yeah, just like when I was 20, now being 44, I like just look & fantasize.

Its disturbing me that the issue is the border and the bedroom and not the fact the girls are in the range of 12-15 years old.

I had my share of attractive girlfriends. But I was NEVER lucky picking up women in bars. I met my past girlfeinds through other ways. Had lots of GREAT sex in my life with my past GF's. But when I was in my 20's & early 30's, if I went into a bar or club, hot women would never give me the time of day.

Okay now that there's no hockey I need some NHL news if possible.. even if it makes absolutely no sense.

Btw good job to the Americans. Absolutely phenomenal on defense and they really controlled the play.
