I'm with you there but I think the people most hurt by the lockout are the arena workers who could now be out of 41 games of pay and the lesser organizational employees who work on game days. As a fan, it sucks not to have the Flyers & the rest of the NHL around but in truth they are saving me money (on tickets, merchandise, concessions, etc.). The true losers are the ones that need the money & aren't working because millionaires & billionaires can't agree on anything.

It's a negotiation Ek, everything is on the table until it has been signed off.

And the below doesn't at all suggest the NHL is trying to pull the wool over the PA's eyes:

DarrenDreger: League source says all "changes" to Article 50 were highlighted and flagged and the union has had docs for a week.

Thanks for contributing to the media hype.

If it was in the proposal given to the NHLPA, then it isn't trying to hide anything.

Part of me thinks all this negitive talk by the NHLPA is just posturing. They (NHLPA) secretly have accepted the CBA in one way or another and are waiting till the last possible moment to accept it. And Fehr is a complete A-hole.

The other part thinks we are all f***** and Fehr is still one hell of an A-hole...

1) NHLPA will re-vote and give power for the Disclaimer of Interest
2) It will be exicuted By Sunday
3) Gary Betman will hold a presser to announce "it looks like the season will be lost" as the NHLPA has forced their hand to do this
4) everyone will scream and cry and stomp their feet
5) Last ditch efforts to save the season will begin again next Tue Jan 8th
6) Deal will be announced by Jan 10th

Almost at the finish line folks......one more week of scare tactics and B.S. and we will have our game back

Hang in there..............

Painting "Thank You" on the ice should cover it.

Honestly, if they paint that on the ice I will be insulted and angry beyond belief. Either paint "Screw You" fans or don't bother - at least if they painted screw you I'd respect their honesty...for once.

They have a lifestyle to keep up... There is a reason many of these guys go broke after retiring... Player making 500k takes home in 6 yrs 1.8m, it's Pocket change if you think about it... they need to make enough money for a lifetime.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves in regards to players whining about their "short career". So say you have a close to minimum salary contract, say $1 million. And also say you have a short career of 5 years, so that is $5 million before taxes.

Now take a person with a fairly good job making $100000 a year over a 40 year career, that's $4 million.

So who is still ahead hear and basically can live their ENTIRE life as retirement type living.

Yes there are taxes and "take home" pay differences, but there are also the fact that player can buy a home outright, ZERO mortgage to lose money on interest. All their kids schooling they can put aside with a couple paychecks etc. This doesnt evcan account for the frigging pension fund they have, meanwhile the "average joe" has to deal with that himself as well.

All it takes is a little bit of brains and a good accountant and even the lesser paid players are set for an extremely financially comfortable life . But the key word here is "brains".

Here, I'll say it: "Jeremy Maurice Jacobs" is an ass.

If the players cave and Jeremy Maurice Jacobs "wins" I vow to never, ever spend another dime on anything related to the NHL until he is gone. Hell, if this gets resolved in a respectable manner and he's still chairman of the BOG (or whatever title he has that allows him to behave this way) by this time next year I may do it anyway. (f__k that jerk)

I vow to find and promote every illicit stream of every game I can find (I'll make it a hobby) - I vow to promote anyone I find selling 'counterfeit' merchandise using any means available to me (or ones I create for the purpose). I'll pimp the KHL, find ways to convince people to watch the AHL, talk up collage hockey - whatever it takes.

This isn't hard to read and I'm freaking tired of it

These are probably the most immature sides in sports labor negotiation history. I get why the players would be upset if they felt the NHL was misleading them, but it was changed back! Get over it and head back to the table.

Then again, perhaps this is Fehr stalling things out until he gets his disclaimer authority back. Hopefully that is it and negotiations get back on track once he gets that leverage again.

As an Eagles fan who is very familiar with Reid, this is a good signing for the Chiefs. Although, I think Andy should have been fired years ago, he was a good coach and turned the Eagles around. Unfortunately he is suspect in drafting (biggest gaffe was when he turned down Earl Thomas & Jason Pierre-Paul in order to draft Brandon Graham as a DE. Graham was a LB throughout college) & he's been known for his poor time management skills. Regardless, I expect the Chiefs to at least make the playoffs a few times while Reid's the HC.

I feel bad for them too. Lots of people impacted by the lockout that nobody thinks about. I must admit though, having worked as a program/ice cream seller at Maple Leaf Gardens and Skydome, most but not all, are teens with part time jobs not making much anyways. The job was so part time and so low paying, that it would never be an income I would depend on as means of supporting myself. Alot of the people I knew working there just loved the job because you were always in the stadium/rink and part of the action as much as the money being made. Literally half my pay went to my dinner that night and bus fare both ways.

Especially Maple Leaf Gardens! Back then, players would enter from the side street (I believe it was Wood? Maybe Carlton? Its been too long) and there would barely be any security. We would get there early, get autographs, talk to players with hardly any restrictions. Clark, Gilmour you name it! The good ol days.

After we sold out programs and ice creams, which would be around the 2nd intermission/early third period, we would go to the ushers we knew who would tell us of any seats that were empty all game so we could sit there and watch the rest of the game. It was great, but only if you're young and income wasnt your main and only priority.
Then again, times have changed since the 20 years ago it was when I worked there.
