How is it stupid? Please explain.

You don't think the owners should have more weight in defining HRR? You really think that should be a 50/50 decision? Even when one side assumes all risk, while the other just collects the fruits of that labour?

- Pen15

Yes it should be a negotiated decision since it is a key component in determining compensation. Owners contribute capital and with that capital comes risk. Players contribute their labour and the cost of that labour is set through negotiations. You can't say one factor is necessarily worth more than the other and there is no right or wrong price for that labour. In the case of the NHL where the selling point I
is having the best players in the world, the cost of that labour will be higher than hookers in Tijiuana.

Now some people are saying Nilsson might be the hottest player in the world, and you won't see me denying it. I've been pumping this guys tires since 2011. Is there a more complete player in the world of hockey than Nilsson right now? I doubt it, this kid is a BEAST. He's singlehandedly led his team to victory.

CLUTCHILSSON!

Disappointed. Was looking for "missile" to be incorporated into his name.

I read yesterday (Shoalts?) that the PA gave the NHL the floor ....44 million (16 million below 60 cap). PA still wants a higher cap (65) to allow for some equity to those players signing contracts next summer. The NHL says that'll hurt competitive balance ..i.e. a bigger gap between floor and cap. If true, thats not an issue that'll cancel a season.
- The Law

The league is completely incompetent, caps do not help to ensure competitive balance. I wish the NHL would ge their head out of their @ss.

And that can be directly correlated to having a cap?
Not at all.

What is the logic behind your stance?

Before the cap -

Teams like the Habs won many in a row, then Isles, then the Oil, Pens won a couple..

After the Cap, Nobody repaets..

You not following along?? The owners changed the HHR, cheap move at this stage (after disclaimer deadline)... and haven't met since.
- burn

they probably changed it to compensate for something the NHLPA changed, you don't know all the facts

in fairness tho saying they havent met since is also incorrect.

the tweak to how HRR was worded (thats all it was, nothing more) was pulled off the table as soon as the NHLPA objected. sneaky, meh, not really, they made a change in the proposal and it didnt fly, nothing more

this happened thursday afternoon.

they met later that evening to discuss pensions. so it didnt halt negotiations at all.

my guess is its just some reporter trying to make a big story out of an anthill.
