I still say the Canadian Hockey League should be for Canadians either that or change the name. Some Canadian guy spends thousands on

No, his opinion was relevant a week or two ago when he said Gardiner was the best player in the AHL.

Right Burn?

I'm with Cherry. The name should be changed to the Mostly Canadian Hockey League. Then we need to change the NHL to the MNHL (Multi National Hockey League). Now that the CHL no longer exists, the KHL can assume that acronym because you don't spell continental with a (frank)ing K!

That doesn't make the players the product.
- Pen15

There's a difference...the players as a collective make up the product, not individually. This is also shown in the fact that the league continues to draw fans and make money long after certain players retire and move on.

Hard to believe he allowed himself to coach and play in the AHL without first insisting it be called the PAHL (Partly American Hockey League).

I kind of agree with him in the sense that I wish we kept more goalie spots open for Canadian goalies. We need to develop more of them.

Instituting a home-grown quota like the CFL is one thing, but banning non-citizens is ridiculous.

That's a little biased coming from Tony Fernandez.

taxpayers didnt pay for it. the casino did.
- Dozzer

The casino is taxpayer money.

Instead of going to general revenues, it gets funnelled into the Pennsylvania State Sports Authority (or whatever in the heck the body is called).

It's still taxpayer dollars.

Trust me.

They don't play the game on paper. If they did, Canada would have at LEAST one Stanley Cup win since 1993.

I will stick up for Don (a little) by saying this:

He's never (iirc) said "no foreigners in the CHL"

What he has said is that it needs to be a two-way street.

US players are welcome, because Canadian kids are welcome to play in the US.

But if a Canadian kid can't play for Metallurg Magnitogorsk Juniors or Traktor Chelyabinsk Juniors, why are we welcoming Russian kids?
