Andy Sutton's knee still works.... I swear!

I thought the entire team was on Cloutier's "untouchables" list?

Whoever designed that ride should be shot.

In the nuts.

Why? What's so bad?

It's basically a PT Cruiser on steriods. Lots of room in the back for kids or your hockey gear. You sit up so you can see the road.

Hell, Ford took the idea and ran with it on their Flex.

Look no further than the KHL to see what would happen.

The superstars would still come to the NHL. The next tier below would consider staying at home.

But with the leaps and bounds being made by US players (the base has never been bigger), I wouldn't worry too much about it. Instead of a Czech 3rd liner, you'd have a kid from Rimouski or Flin Flon or Minnesota or even Texas.

The Sundins and Lidstroms and Jagrs and Ovechkins would still come to the NHL.

- Atomic Wedgie

thats true about the US program.. but still.. my point is those big name stars would come to play for pheonix or nashville.. they would only come to play in the big markets where they would get paid well

i just dont think there would be a good competitive balance is all.

fair enough. i can agree with that.

but the NHL pre-euro invasion was nowhere nears what is was after. and thats not speculation.. thats fact.

- Dozzer

Only for the high end talent (which would still play in the NHL) not for the low to mid talent.

Did you see the uproar when Ken Campbell from THN tweeted that the players were trying to change the HHR definition?? That was false.... but when the owners actually do it no one says bo??? Hmmmm.
- burn

so you know what i mean.

great players, you just dont want a Chicago to happen without a cup win, what did they lose, 11 players after winninv the cup? imagine they never won, jesus...

- Neiler

Im not worried about cap problems till they exist... I am much more looking forward to watching the young guns with Yak and Schultz added to the mix.

Everyone craps of Yakupov now cause its easy, something tells me he might do alright playing with Eberle or Nuge for some reason though... have to see.

It wouldn't be.

Although I read an interesting piece a while back about how having the Yankees win the World Series every third year is actually good for baseball - their ratings are higher than every other team on a national basis, gives the entire country someone to cheer against, etc.

Anyhoo, my secret hope is this: NHLPA disbands, court rules that the NHL is in the right, all contracts declared null and void. Toronto goes on a crazy-assed spending spree, and completely ruins the competitive balance in the league. Leafs win 4 of the next 6 Stanley Cups.

People then realize that this is bad - the league has the same top 4 teams in the semis every year (just like Euro soccer) and a new CBA is hammered out.

But I get to keep my t-shirts from my 4 (count 'em - FOUR!) Stanley Cup parades.

Deal?

They would play for whoever drafted them, after they reach UFA status 6 - 8 years, then they could play for whoever they wanted.

If a team cannot pay a 40 - 50 million dollar payroll then they shouldn't be in the league.
The League was competitive long before cap, it still would be without a cap.

In a tighter cap world, the oilers would be f'd in a year or two.

Half the league would be.

Oilers would be fine.

Go to capgeek and check out their situation and see for yourself.

You need a real goalie and your youngsters would be asking for big pay days if they turn out as expected.

But hey if they dont, c'est la vie...the oil are my second fav team...so I dont mind.
I just want Eberle on the leafs.

Cody Franson and Kulimen for Edmonton's first pick this year. If what the Oilers fans believe, that their team is going to be very good, then is this offer fair?
