Team USA looked strong today. Saturday's game should be good.
NHL Network is showing the Day That Changed The Game episode about Lindros and the '91 draft now, if anyone's up.
Safe travels tomorrow, Bill. |

just got up to watch the USA Canada game to realize my DVR didnt record it like i set it to. - dillpx183
It will be replayed about 10 times in the next day or so. Honestly.. it was never much of a game. USA completely dominated Canada, Gibson played stellar, and Canada never had a chance. Good hockey all in all..
EDIT:
Also, its awesome to see some of the talent being produced in the US. From the net on out... the US is producing some seriously talented players. |

i know it will be on later but its not the same as watching it not knowing the score.... and avoiding all hockey media till later today would have been impossible for me with all the CBA meetings going on |

It's a shame there's no NHL so Don Cherry can't tell us why Canada is still the best junior country during his segment of HNIC. When the US won the gold in 2010, it's because their best (Stamkos, Myers, Kane, Duchesne) were in the NHL already. Wonder what his excuse would be this year. Refs? The day off? Contaminated Gatorade? |

I don't have anything against the Canadian jr team this year but when subban was on the team in 07 or 08 they played like punks. |

Russia just scored to make it 2-1 half way through 2nd. Russia took a shot from the point and hit hit the stick of a sweedish defender and changed direction left and bounced off the ice into the net. this should really be 6-0. the shots are 17-4 but only 2 of the russian shots are "legitimate". must of sweeden's chances are right down the middle of the ice and slot. we'll see if the dynamics of the game changes now. |

Do you see them meeting halfway on the salary cap number? I would have to imagine that the bigger market owners would be putting their collective feet down to get the number raised from 60 million to at least 63 or 64. Something the NHLPA would have common ground on. It would be the meet in the middle compromise.
What you think?

It makes too much sense, so I'm not sure the NHL will willingly go there |

If, as reported, the NHLPA has dropped its demand for a limit on escrow, then I really do think it'll end up at about 64 million. Benefits the big-market owners' teams as well. |

If Cox is right and the league has agreed to 2 amnesty buyouts, does anyone think they wouldn't buy out Bryz? With 2, I'd think Pronger is a no brainer (unless offseason cap rules change to where his cap hit doesn't matter there anymore).
Edit: I guess I should answer my own question. I guess if the cap will really go down to 60M next year, I doubt they'd really have a choice but to buy him out. Obviously leaves a big question mark in goal. I want nothing to do with Michael Leighton as the starting goalie.
I wish this stupid CBA would just get signed so we can go back to talking about this stuff |

This keeps being discussed, but why the heck would we buy out Bryz? Who do you replace him with? Do you hope Van buys out Luongo and try to sign him? I think Bill suggested that Bryz has this short season to sort his game out then they'll decide. There are more #1 options available next offseason. |

I wonder if it would be two buy outs up front or two that can be used over the course of the CBA? |

i agree. Pronger is the clear choice for one of the buyouts. Bryz would be the 2nd candidate but you can't do that with no other option in net and you have to give him more than the season he had to really see what you have in net. Is there a date in which the buyouts must be used? If by next season you only do it if he's a mess this "year". Otherwise it's hard to justify unless they can land a better goalie in the offseason for a good price. |

No one seems to want to think out the step AFTER, if they bought out Bryzgalov.
Bryz is going to be fine. |

I wouldn't worry about it. I think the odds of Bryz getting bought out are slim. Are there any sources on this that matter and are reliable. Or is it just street trash making these comments? Or something in the middle?
A lot can happen in life and sports - injuries, DUI's, marriage, divorce - all impacting a player. No need to predict something that can be changed and really no way to predict. |
