That American team is really good even after the game that Canada won I thought they snuck out the win. The Americans were just better in all aspects of the game better tending better defence and better offence.

Suban was screened on most of the goals he let in by the team collapsing infront of him. When you collapse like that you have to be willing to block the shots the Canadians were not willing to block the shots.

This Canadian team was not as physical as teams in the past we almost looked like a Russian team.

If you remember he didn't use the amnesty buyout on Yashin either, he waited a year & took the yearly hit. The guy figures if he has to pay someone, its gonna count towards what he has to pay to field this money losing team.

I don't think that's why he bought Yashin out a year later. I think he legitimately still wanted to build the team around Yashin after the last lockout, and Snow probably talked him out of that when the buyout occurred after the 07 playoffs. The big difference is, Yashin was still able to center a line and play hockey. DiPietro can't get ice time in a German B league, and causes more disruption being a goaltender just by the very nature of the position. Situations aren't anything close to similar, except for the fact that both had/have long contracts. But if your reason is true, then this man should not own a sports franchise, plain and simple.

When something seems so cut and dry to us, there has to be something we dont know. Somehow someway, with Wang this has to come down to money. Maybe wang doesnt lose as much by keeping Ricky as opposed to buying him out. Maybe by letting Ricky continue playing and getting injured, the insurance will kick in, absolving Wang of any monies owed?

Who knows what DP's insurance is at this point. It's possible the contract's self-insured by now. Some insurers aren't willing to cover long-term contracts for the full length. They'll do three years and then re-visit, or the team will self-insure the rest. Others will cover the full length but reserve the right to adjust the premium each year, in which case I can't even imagine what the rate for DP would be at this point...they'd probably save money by buying him out.

Very true & you could be dead on, on all accounts.

Its a known fact that the Yashin buyout still to this day eats at him. I highly doubt he does it again.
