Yeah, don't hold your breath on him actually being able to play. He's probably injured as we speak. Man, hes got it good. What a life.

He's been injured for 5 years.........doesnt mean he wont dress. Not like we havent seen him dressed while injured before.

Just Staple's opinion, and Botta's been wrong more times than I can remember when he's made definitive statements about the Isles over Twitter. DP was a distraction for the German team he was (is?) on and he's only been there for a couple of months. Snow would have to be blind to think otherwise considering the goaltender carousel that's gone on here since 2008, despite what he says to a newspaper reporter. I'll give ownership/management the benefit of the doubt here on what should be a very non-controversial, slam-dunk decision. But, if they don't do the obvious thing and buy out that contract when given a golden opportunity to do so, then that's gotta be the nail in the coffin for the Wang/Snow defense, no?

You're a better man than I. As far as the second bold, when did the Islanders ever do the obvious thing when referring to Wang/Snow?

When something seems so cut and dry to us, there has to be something we dont know. Somehow someway, with Wang this has to come down to money. Maybe wang doesnt lose as much by keeping Ricky as opposed to buying him out. Maybe by letting Ricky continue playing and getting injured, the insurance will kick in, absolving Wang of any monies owed?

The suspense was ruined a couple of seconds early for me. I was on the phone with my dad, and for whatever reason, my broadcast was running a little bit behind his. So when Snow was just getting to the podium on my TV, I hear everyone on the other end of the phone erupt into cheers and I figured that wasn't for Hedman or Duchene.

I mean did anyone think with 100 percent certainty the isles were gonna draft Tavares. If Hedman, or Duchene's name were called, noone woulda be surprised. Par for the course with the isles.

"With the 15th overall pick in the 2003 draft, the isles would like to select, Robert Nillson".

Well, I guess we all know why.

Edit; I have no idea what happened to the rest of my post? Something wrong with this site today?

I was actually at the draft party. Convinced myself they were going to pick Hedman and had a strategy planned out to find and kill Snow. Snow and I are happy it worked out the way that it did.

It would have been an ugly scene at the Coliseum if they didn't take Tavares. They might as well have just given away pitchforks and torches at the door.

There are so many negative paralells and circumstances that are/were associated with DP being picked. Him being picked was so remarkably negative to this team and its well being that it's comical at this point.

Maybe he will retire and take a job with the team. If he can't play more than 2 games in a German b league, maybe he will take it upon himself to just give it up. We can only hope. If it was up to Garth snow, he would buy him out. He hasn't drafted a bunch of goalies for no reason.

FROM IPB:

With the NHL and NHLPA meeting late into the night yesterday on New Year’s, there’s some hope that a deal could get done and a season started by the end of January. But, like any good hockey fan, you shouldn’t get those hopes up too much. They’ve disappointed us all quite a bit already. Anyway, if in fact we do have hockey soon, the Islanders are going to be at a bit of a disadvantage with a number of injured players. Not on this list are David Ullstrom and Casey Cizikas who have both missed time this year to injury but are currently playing. Here’s what we’ve been able to compile:

Michael Grabner: “Should be” ready by January 15th after a lower-body injury
Brock Nelson: Broken jaw out 2-3 weeks as of 12/29
Calvin de Haan: Still out for the year
Nino Niederreiter: took a stick to the face but is back playing
Kirill Kabanov: Still out after taking a cut on the arm from a skate and tweeting a picture of it
Travis Hamonic: Out with a nebulous upper-body injury concussion since early December
John Tavares: playing through a vampire bite
Lubomir Visnovsky: healthy but got fined by the KHL for yelling at officials

If we missed anyone, let us know in comments.

Didnt know Hamonic had a concussion. Tavares is injured, or is that a joke?
