I'm told one item that hasn't been part of the NHLPA's offers is a cap on escrow.

Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris
A major issue still to be resolved in NHL talks is the 2013-14 salary cap. League looking for $60M, NHLPA asking for $65M.

Why don't they just agree to make the 2013-14 cap what it was last year ($64.3M)? Makes the most sense to me.

Hopefully the players win on that issue, or the high cap teams are screwed big time.

I was surprised when I read the summary of the first proposal from the NHL this week and saw it was 60. Seemed way too low.

They need to lower cap floor to help struggling teams, thats why Garry wont budge off the 60mil

+ He/they want to punish the big spending teams for player salary increase....

Doug Maclean asked today does it really matter if a player recieves 9 000 or 10 000 a year in pension? Is that reason enough to kill a year. Fuhr can go back to his guys and say see what I got you.

you and i both know this will get done but the damage has already been done to the fan base of the nhl!! not everyone like myself has been a fan since 1982 (since i was 4) and im a flyers fan in a rather large fan base i just dont see the smaller market teams being able to recover from this bull s@#t over salary cap and pensions!! i love hockey and always will but please end this before its to late!

I wasn't even aware that a mediator was present. Must have missed that detail...

I think most were surprised, even some NHL insiders seemed surprised to find that out tonight.

so the players are looking towards more of the 65 to 67 million range as apposed to the 60? i know the flyers would def benefit from that or else we would be capped out!! i dont think we can still hide prongers money any longer?
- turdcutters

Yeah, the league seems to want 60 mil while the players want 65+. Teams like the Flyers and Canucks would definitely be screwed and forced to give away quality players. Not to mention that the free agent market would be a little less crazy, not only because of a lower cap but a lower floor as well.

Just my 2 cents worth, so take it for what it's worth.... the League should go a transition year at 65 Million on Cap.

I think that the cap hit would stay as it is for this year(assuming there is a season), but as Yost said, they're trying to agree on a cap for next season..I could be wrong though.

Unless you mean next season as a transition year.

As overheard tonight during CBA Talks between Don Fehr and Steve Fehr:

Steve: Don, what do you think, should we file the DOI, the deadline is close.

Don: No, there's no sense, the league has seen through our ploy, and the fans aren't buying into our PR spin on it anymore.

Steve: But if we don't file the DOI we will look like idiots?

Don: We already look like idiots.

What a pack of dildo's, seriously, all this blustering about DOI and they don't file anyway, just a bull poop move to try and scare the league, don't give in NHL, don't give in!

Canada looks entirely uninterested in this game. Ripe for the picking. If USA gets another the game is over.

Ape: but we move from hill

Man: fine. its our final hill. we die here

Ape: but we just move hill again. why no final hill?

Man: lets move hills.
