And when the judge asks why they didn't file on the first vote if the NHL was not bargaining in good faith, what would their answer be? It weakens their stance if they don't file. - VANTEL
Hence the notion that it was mostly a PR and scare tactic. Because truthfully, DOI means essentially 2 years without hockey. And anyone in the PA that truthfully believes that the league is that afraid of losing the cap is sadly mistaken. A reset means the owners could abolish guaranteed contracts. That's an even harder pill to swallow for PA than Cap, IMO. |

The NHL does not want a lockout all year. Right now it is the biggest game of chicken in the history of sports.
This is what happens when you have dumbasses and d!ckheads trying to negotiate. |

you are right. Losing a year hurts league more long-term. But Fehr is no idiot and knows that no good will come for PA either by missing full year. Fehr is banking on being smart enough to push Bettman to the ledge without pushing him over it. |

One side will report, the other will leave a message saying that they will meet again the next day instead, and then the next meeting takes place in a week when they decide to cancel the season. |

They will sign. They are bargaining secondary items to save face but they will sign a new deal very soon. |

Seems like salary cap for next year is becoming a bigger issue. |

Hopefully the players win on that issue, or the high cap teams are screwed big time. |

Doug Maclean asked today does it really matter if a player recieves 9 000 or 10 000 a year in pension? Is that reason enough to kill a year. Fuhr can go back to his guys and say see what I got you. |

Yeah, huge win for giving up 50% of their pay this year.

Should not matter if escrow flucuates. Cap stays high percentage for escrow changes to ease the burden of salary cap. |

Exactly they are just bargaining to see the best results on both sides but they will sign. |

I'm told one item that hasn't been part of the NHLPA's offers is a cap on escrow.
Chris Johnston @reporterchris
A major issue still to be resolved in NHL talks is the 2013-14 salary cap. League looking for $60M, NHLPA asking for $65M.
Why don't they just agree to make the 2013-14 cap what it was last year ($64.3M)? Makes the most sense to me. |

so the players are looking towards more of the 65 to 67 million range as apposed to the 60? i know the flyers would def benefit from that or else we would be capped out!! i dont think we can still hide prongers money any longer? |

I was surprised when I read the summary of the first proposal from the NHL this week and saw it was 60. Seemed way too low. |
