With the shortened season, when does the trade deadline come into play?
Things to consider, it will definately be a sellers market seeing as there will be a greater amount of teams still in contention for the playoffs.
Also, with all the pending UFA's the pressure on the GM's to either sign those players or trade them before the deadline will be huge. No way a GM is going to risk losing his star players for absolutely nothing, as Lou did with Parise.
Getzlaf and Perry will be prime targets.
Getzlaf is going to look really good with the C on his shirt wearing the big Maple Leaf!!
- faceto27
Gonna be interesting that's for sure! Regarding Getzlaf, hard to figure that one out. Does he chase the money, which I think Anaheim can offer him as much as Toronto can, or does he want to win again? |

Anaheim is losing money. Can they really afford to sign both Getzlaf and Perry? Apparently the Cap will be lowered to 60M next season as well. Things to ponder.
Do the Ducks become sellers, and trade Getzlaf and Perry and load up on draft picks for the upcoming draft? Get a big jump start on the rebuilding process. |

Guess we'll find out, if they get a CBA done. Can they afford not to sign their core players? Henry Samueli is one of the richest owners in the league, as I said, this is all gonna be interesting to watch. |

Does Kadri become the temporary number 2 center on the Nucks? Or is it Bozak? |

Ya that's what I meant, for those who know hockey I'm guessing they'll understand what I meant. I don't want to make eight paragraph reply's here.
It's not fair to the Canadian teams or the larger established teams like Detroit, Philly and Boston to have to carry the southern teams so much. Pisses me off that there's still a team in Florida and Phoenix. - LeftCoaster
Really? Revenue sharing in the NHL is 4.5%. The other pro leagues are somewhere around 40-60% revenue sharing.

The players AREN'T the game, they aren't the product. That's the central problem in the whole mess, they think they're a lot more important than they really are. The game is the product; the players and owners are just the facilitators. When you look at it from a certain perspective, the players are no more important than the arena, or the puck. If this entire group of players went away tomorrow would the game cease to exist? No, they'd just get new players.
I'll pay to watch Sidney Crosby play hockey but I'm not going to pay to watch him wash his car. Hockey is the product, not the players. - Jeffmt

That's entirely because they have BILLION dollar televsion deals to spread around, the NHL doesn't have that luxury! Those teams are spreading their gate revenue with Nashville Phoenix and Florida. |

I think Snider knows that the Flyers would be in a better position missing a season and that's why he's not making any noise...Also, is that clause about dropping one bad contract part of the deal? |

Apparently it is. And you have until 2013/14 start of season to do so.

The NHL put it on the table, see if the players agree to the terms. |

From what I've read, this is a clause the Fehr has been pushing. Its a win-win situation for the players. They get to be bought out, and then resign with another team. Bonus money for them. |

Yeah it's good for them, except, they might not like the fact it counts towards their pool of money. |

Not the case. Nobody is better off missing a Season. Not the League, Owners, Teams, the players, and certainly not the fans.

They won't like that it counts against the Players share. That is a likely area where they will counter.

I don't care if they miss a season...I'll always come back...I find it amusing that these douche-bags can't figure out how to put a CBA together that doesn't need to be reinvented every time they expire... |

Yeah, Fehr and the PA leadership will (frank) this up.......again. |
