PA still (frank)ing around, still posturing, drawing this thing out so that the owners have little time to respond to the counter before January 2nd. this is absolutely unreal. 6000 lawyers and they need 3 days to understand a 300-page document? cannot imagine how badly the owners must want to push Fehr out of a plane. - scotch_tape
The NHLPA has responded to every offer the NHL has made within a few days. They took a day or so to clarify the offer with the NHL. Nothing wrong with that.

The proposed salary cap for next season is too low, it will force the player to have a high escrow and totally limit the UFA market next summer. The PA will ask for a smoother transition, something like 65M instead of 60M but the league knows this, it's a trading chip. |

In my opinion, nothing. I think it was a good offer. Hopefully one that will lead to a deal.

It will, things the players will try to get (IMO)
-50M of the make whole being used to fund the short fall in the pension plan, PA will want that funded by the league outside of HRR and the make whole
-60M proposed salary cap to be higher for next year, probably around 65M
-Contract terms to be 7yrs, 8yrs for staying with the same team
-Higher revenue sharing, league offered 200M, PA will ask for 300M again
-Contract variance to be higher than the 10% proposed by the league
Just my guess, the more they ask, the more trading chips the PA has when they sit down to negotiate. |

Well based on how the negotiations have been going. Those are pretty reasonable guesses.

- pensions: I hope the players get as much as they can and more. This is an embarrassment to the league, and completely under-reported. The pension plan needs to be much better.
- I'm hoping for the $60 million cap next year, only because I think it would be fun for fans. Fun to watch GMs scramble.
- don't care one way or the other about the next three.

If the PA does indeed come back with that much, then there will be another blow up and no season. |

Those are just things they could propose, doesn't mean they will kill a deal without all of those. They will fight for a higher cap for next year FOR SURE. |
