Anaheim is losing money. Can they really afford to sign both Getzlaf and Perry? Apparently the Cap will be lowered to 60M next season as well. Things to ponder.

Do the Ducks become sellers, and trade Getzlaf and Perry and load up on draft picks for the upcoming draft? Get a big jump start on the rebuilding process.

I'm a bit late on this conversation, but the Ducks will have no trouble paying both Getz and Pears. They have said they want to play together and are happy in Anaheim (though of course that is no guarantee). The team is on the upswing and will be a contender again in a few seasons. As a Ducks fan I'm not worried about re-signing both guys, I think they will get it done.

The Ducks don't need to rebuild. They have basically been retooling for the past 3 years and already have a ton of prospects coming through. Rebuilding now would only set the team back.

As a Leaf fan, obviously I would love for Burke to sign Getz & Pears as UFA's next summer but objectively speaking, the Ducks would be fools to let them go even if they made a great trade & got high picks & prospects for them, they should do whatever it takes to keep em both. The Ducks have solid talent & the promising youth to make a fast turn around & Getz and Pears would be a big part of it.

Perfect scenario for anyone interested in him. Give up no assets, sign him to the same or lower salary with far less than the 10 years or so of term left on his current contract. Which is why teams wont give the Canucks much for him, because they wont need to nor should they. Its a bad contract.

Then they will find a loop hole such as.... work with another team who has more assets than Toronto, say.... anyone... and then work out a deal that the Canucks trade a single draft pick for a group of players while Lou is bought out and already agreed to terms with the new team. He signs ;ater in the day and Bobs your uncle the CBA is contraviened again.
