only at the start of the season, so theres no pressure on the kids, but eventually the lines will change upon production....

If Strome isn't ready to play second line minutes from the get-go he belongs in the AHL. I don't think he belongs, or will be put, on JT's wing. He's a center, and putting him anywhere but the 2C spot would be a mistake.

Nelson's game is a little more transferable to the 3rd line, but my guess (and what I feel should happen) is that he will, at least, start the year with Bridgeport. Injuries or poor play may lead to him earning a call-up, but I'm not ready to hand him a roster spot based on a good less-than-half AHL season. Don't get it confused though, I'm thrilled with what he's done so far.

I agree he'll start there, but that doesn't mean he'll end there.

Capuano does have a reputation of moving someone off a line if they're not producing

It may take Jack a couple of years to make line changes but he'll get there.

I still am in complete shock that we have to see this guy behind the bench again. Even for the Islanders it's beyond stupid.

They were terrible, Goring included but Capuano beats them by a long shot. That's just how bad he is.

Strome is the same height, if not slightly taller than Tavares. Tavares weighs ~20lbs more, but is also 3 years older.

I didn't slight Nelson at all. My point was that he should, and will probably, start next year in the AHL. He's got 27 games of professional experience, no need to throw him into the NHL right away. Not to mention there's not exactly a spot waiting for him. We have guys that can currently fill 2nd/3rd line roles. Like I said, if one of them gets hurt or their game goes to absolute crap, Nelson could be a very good choice for a call-up.

None of that means he doesn't have a very nice upside.

My thought was Nelson centering the second line and strome play with Tavares. The isles are FILLED with third line players, so having the third line be Nielson centering Okposo, and Martin wouldnt suck.

Moulson/Tavares/Strome
Nino/Nelson/Bailey
Okposo/Frans/Martin
Ulstrom/Cizikas/insert any tough N American winger

Thats 4 lines who can contribute.........that forward lineup would make the playoffs

I dunno man, if he's eating up the AHL, he should def get a serious look for the NHL. Just because the isles have 2nd and 3rd liners already should not be the reason Nelson doesnt play. The best players should be playing (as crappy was saying). The isles should put the guys on the ice who give them the best chance at winning. Just cause Okposo was drafted high, and expected to be this dominant power forward.........that shouldnt guarentee him a spot. Its this type of (mis)managing, that has gotten the isles to where they are........which is outta the playoffs for how many years in a row now?

You have two kids with zero NHL experience in there? Yeah they are playing great in juniors and the AHL but who knows how they will be come grown up hockey time. I'm excited about these kids too but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Why do you want Strome on the wing so bad? Who knows if that would suit him? The kid has played center hi whole life. I understand there is less responsibility on the wings but that isn't always the best thing to do with a natural center. Nelson looks good but I don't know if I want some kid who has been playing good(not great btw)in the AHL with zero NHL experience centering my second line? That team is not making the playoffs with the experience on it unless something realllly clicks. Bunch of kids, they may not even make the AHL playoffs this year?
