Thanks for the links, Jim. I got to see a bit of the Peterborough game and just finished watching all of the Everett-Seattle game. Both teams I am following won, so that made it more enjoyable. It would've been nice if the Q did something similar this weekend.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Flyers draft Everett goalie Austin Lotz in June. One game does not a full scouting report make, but he was stellar tonight.

It would be stupid to think Bryz will get bought out

I am reading a lot of commentary suggesting that we use the buyout on Bryz. Who in God's name will be our #1 if that is done? Leighton? I think that's madness.

Would there be any benefit to buying out Pronger's contract toget it off the books and let him retire? If not, use the amnesty on Walker or Shelley.

I stopped paying attention to the specifics about a month ago due to utter disgust but isn't the hold up due to salary reductions? SO wouldn't that in effect make Bryzgalov's contract actually reasonable?

There isn't going to be any contractual rollbacks in the CBA Joe!. What's holding up the deal are contract issues such as term and variance. And then transition rules such as next year's Upper limit number.

If we get Pronger's contract off the books, the benefit would be that his cap hit isn't calculated during the off-season, which could affect moves. It's no big deal during the season since he's on LTIR, but during the off-season his contract sticks.

Yes. I think people also forgot that the goalie tandem this year is Bryz and Leighton....
so yeah, lets buy out Bryz so we can put Leighton as the no. 1 goalie.

It could also have an effect during the Season. The Owners offer included a bonus cushion in ever year. Having a player on LTIR could cause the team to have to carry over cap penalties to the following Season.

Thanks. Well maybe this is an option. Also, I have been thinking that when thecap goes down to 60 mil, obviously we will have to make some significant roster moves. I believe timo's contract ends, but i bet it means we see guys like Laughton make the team. Young and cheaper.. Also, I really don't wanna lose Read but we might as Bill has said.

Players Cap hits will not go down. There is no salary rollback in the deal.
