My plan is for 6 teams to fold so we can get to 24 teams. Than we can go back to the 1970's playoff format, 16 teams get in the playoffs, the matchups are based on where they finish, 1st plays 16th, 2nd plays 15th & so on & so on. Ohh & get rid of the salary cap as it has killed one of the most exciting aspects of the game: TRADES!!! My fav day of the year was never Christmas, Thanksgiving etc, it use to be the trade deadline. Now it's been killed by the cap. - GCHonda
id actually be ok with the divisional playoffs like the smythe, norris days. (1 v 4)
traditional rivals battling in the playoffs every year? i think it would be downright nasty, violent hockey.
i was sorta stoked on the proposed realignment last year (with a few tweaks and changes of course) |

If we have a 48 game season the North East will be
1. Bruins - best all around team but I am not 100% sure Rask will be able to carry the #1 position without Thomas as a safety net
2. Buffalo - I think they had an off year last year and now their team will finally gel, they will push Boston for 1st
3. Ottawa - Will be a exciting team again to watch but the D is already thin and will be too reliant on young unproven kids. However I still see us as a playoff team
4. Toronto - Needs a #1 goalie and a #1 C before they can be taken seriously.
5. Montreal - Will be close with TO but in the end I think their lack of forward depth will hamper them. Also, they need to make sure they sign PK long term, he is a solid piece to build around on the back end. |

I would love to just get rid of divisions. The idea that the Leafs, under these current rules, cant play the Habs or Sens in the finals for the cup is disappointing. |

Doughty however is elite |

What's really disappointing is the Leafs don't play anyone in the playoffs, nevermind the finals. |

They are not enforcers the ilk of Scott.
Players will shy away from this guy and Scott makes other teams think about taking liberties on our better players whether he is dressed that night or not.
That is what I meant by serving the purpose of Darcy acquiring him.
To think that does not happen in the league still I feel leaves you naive. If you know you just took liberties roughing Vanek up or running Miller you better know that the next time you face this team you will have to man up to Scott.
That's my point! - BuffaloHardHat
We thought the same thing about Scott when the Hawks got him but teams still took liberties with the Hawks skilled players even Toews. I could only remember one time when Scott took an instigator penalty and that was when Marcus Krueger took a head shot from Derrick Engellend. He won the scrap but the Pens scored on the PP and that turned the game around.. Most player don't waste their time fighting him. With the way Scott skates they rather have him on the ice. |

i just wonder how bad ratings would be if it ended up an all western, smaller market final.
cause lets face it; the majority of the american hockey market is in the north east. and we need them.
in the west we b1tch about the eastern media bias etc. but regardless, we need their cash and viewers for this league to thrive.
calgary v san jose for example. |

I know because you clearly are a guru on this matter.
Kopitar is not 'elite' !
I have already seen other posters feel the same way.
Also seen another poster that agreed with me on the Bruins and Rask not being able to 'carry the load' . Bruins are no lock by any means. But I guess thats why they play the game.
Or, seeing that you know it all , just tell me who is going to win the Cup because I will alert Terry Pegula to not even bother dressing his players this year for any game because hugefemale dog77 said so on Hockeybuzz.

Yes they way it was in the 70's. the Leafs played the Habs lots of times in the playoffs. Mind u never in the finals, but that's only cause the Leafs were never good enough in the 70's to get to the final round. But I love the unpredictibility of the 70's playoff format, if it was implemented now, Leafs would have a chance to play the Habs in the finals, again assuming they ever get to the dance. |

Kopitar is elite, I'd sell my soul for the Leafs to have: Kopitar as the #1 center, Quick in net & Doughty on the D. Leafs would win the cup!!!!!!! |
