Me too, but only cause the boneheaded thougts of his make me want to pull my hair out.
He had waves of level headed thinkers for pages and pages laughing at his homerism, at his retarded idea tha john scott was gonna be a huge factor for the sabres and comparing pominville to kopitar!!! Etc etc.
Then he gets one or two other monkeys to kinda agree and he feels validated.
Misery certainly loves company
He was calling out the 1st line center, dominant, best forward on the cup champs!!?
Or that datsyuk isnt elite???!!!?? Giroux!?? Holy eff
Hes just an old homer whos wayy out of touch with the game today.
He lovez his sabres, he watches his sabres, and theyre the best ever. All of u be damned. - hugefemale dog77
Giroux has to have a couple more seasons like the one he had last year to be considered elite imo.
Kopitar isn't elite....suggesting otherwise is asinine imo. That said, he's a moon better than anyone the sabres have.
The rest (crosby, malkin, stamkos, datsyuk) are elite by my definition. |

It all depends on your definition of elite.
Mine means one of the best centers in the game. Which he is. Hes a name mentioned with a handfull of other elite centers.
Not neccasarily the top 3 players in the world.
That said, i also dont put him too far behind that top group.
Theres no question about datsyuk and stamkos.
Giroux will have more seasons like this. There's just no doubt. Hes so good.
And suggesting anyone pominville or even vanek is in kopitars class makes me laugh |

It's a noun. Go to websters. - BuffaloHardHat
You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. It can be used as a noun. For example, if I were referring to “the elite” as a group. Then it becomes a noun. When you’re using it to describe something, like we are here, as in “is a player elite?”, then it becomes an adjective.

Fair enough. I also don't think that list of 4 is exhaustive by any stretch. My only comment re: Grioux is that I'd like to see a few more years like the one he had before I put him in that catagory.
I think we'd all agree that being elite has just as much to do with consistency & longevity.
And I wasn't part of that Kopitar vs. Vanek/Pommer discussion...I find it funny that it was even had. |

More hilarity.
I never said Pommers nor Vanek were elite.
Posters like you saying that Kopitar with his average seasons is elite is when I said it must then make players like Pommers elite also.

And that makes you foolish, because Kopitar is a FAR, FAR better player than Jason Pominville. |

In your opinion.
You are the authority on foolish son?
Spare me, you dont even know the difference between and adj and noun.
Not being a homer, I'll take Pommers every day over Kopitar. Pommers is a leader as well a 30 goal scorer.

Gotta disagree with this...Kopitar's regular season/playoff production and +/- alone are enough to make this a lopsided affair.
EDIT: Also, Pommer isn't a career 30 goal scorer...his average is 25 goals/yr. |

Not to mention Pommers nets 30 without a number 1 center in a defensive minded conference.
And I still am not saying Pommers is elite. Just showing you how (frank)ing hilarious and off the wall you are saying Kopitar is Crosby/Malkin group ? |

Of the players mentioned, who would you take Pominville over?
1. Malkin
2. Stamkos
3. Crosby
4. Datsyuk
5. Giroux
6. Kopitar * you already said you would take Pominville*
7. Nash

I'd still take Pommers . He is a leader unlike Kopitar. Euros typically arent. |

This is clearly going over your head. The question was asked, “is the player elite?” That’s a descriptor. In that case, it’s an adjective.
No one is talking about “the elite”. If there were an established group of players that were referred, as a group, as “the elite”, then in that instance it becomes a noun. No one is talking about “the elite” did this or that, rather, he is an elite player. Description = adjective.
And I’m not continuing with this grade 9 English lesson. If you disagree, take it up with someone else.

I would take Pommers over Kopitar, Datsyuk because he is declining and Nash because of pure laziness .
Possibly Giroux. I need to see Giroux put another season like last season before I am sold on him. |

I don't think that says much.
I think a valid argument can be made that Kopitar has better leadership qualities during crunch time than Pommers. Just look at Kopitar's most recent playoff numbers as evidence. Pommers career playoff statistics are average (at best), and certainly not worthy of leadership praise.
EDIT: Kopitar had 20pts and was a +16 during their cup run. If that isn't clutch, I don't know what is. |
