From one hardheaded homer to another. I am 50 and got in an arguement daily with these kids on here. Guess what It's not worth is. I have been a fan 40 years and know the game has changed. Yes the Sabres will benifit from a shortened season. Yes the Sabres have improved. But one thing these lunkheads didn't read that teams with their players already playing whether in europe, the KHL, or in the AHL will hit the ice in mid-season form if there actually is a season. The teams Talented or not who's players that are just skating trying to get in game shape are going to start slower because they are not in game shape. That will make a world of difference in a shortened season.

The Question you have to ask yourself is are the Saber's players playing overseas or in the AHL?
I know Edmonton has the top two lines and top couple defensemen playing but not Dubnyk. They could call up Danis though. se my point?

This is one thing we can agree on. Until they see the light and get rid of the instigator penality so players can police themselves the true heavyweights will be gone in a few seasons.
Btw I loved it when someone threw a cheap shot he knew he had to pay for it in a big way.
Lucic's hit on Miller would have been settled within the same game or the next in a big way then this nonsense would be over. When you leave it to the league or the refs then there is never any retribution and the respect level goes way down.
Old fashioned thinking maybe, but thru-out the history of the NHL before the instigator rule every elite team had 1-2 guys who could play and also take care of business. Detroit had Probert. Montreal had Ferguson, Savard...etc. Edmonton has Semenko, Brown, Mcsorley....etc. Boston had O'Rielly, Jonathon, pick a player from the 70's Bruins, same as the Flyers.
There is somethng to be said for the true heaveyweights that can play it's a lost position.

As a fan that is in your age group, I can't agree more. You remember, like I do, what hockey used to be, compared to today. The hate factor is just not there, anymore. Players don't have to fight for their ice anymore, thanks to so many obstruction and hitting rules. Yes, the instigator has to go, sooner the better.

On the idea of teams with players, playing well in the AHL or Europe having an advantage, I agree with that assessment. The Oilers, Leafs and a few other teams will start fast, because of the young players being in game shape. Unfortunately, there will be no season because it's now about burning the other side. Note to PA, you lose!

Giroux one very good season last year wth only 28 goals and 65 helpers.

Season before that only 25 and 51.
