So they're meeting on Christmas eve?

Not likely, Ek.

- Powerslave

Well, there's not a lot involved who actually celebrate Christmas, especially on the owners' side.

The owners I'm sure are getting to the point where they know even if a season were to happen, getting things up and running would still mean a loss for most, so they will no doubt begin getting even more demanding.

Time for the players to start considering putting together their own league. Leverage is the only thing that makes the owners willing to compensate them for lack of mobility that you only find in pro sports.

It would be hilarious to see the owners trying to rebuild their franchise values with the top 150 players in another league, and watching them pay more than they're willing to now to lure guys back to their league.

Sure....because there are all kinds of billionaires out there...
That want to invest in business where by they lose money!!!!! Where by the players want the $ without caring one I oat a about the sport....
The best part is where are these games going to be played????? The owners you refer to own the buildings!!!!
There was a game the other night with a bunch of stars playing in Toronto.....Stamkos, Subban, Perry, ect .......the building was 3/4 empty....for good reason....the best league in the world is the NHL......players will come and go....this is the NHL.

Ah geez, not another lame suggestion for another league...

Its been beaten to death... Its virtually impossible.

Where will they play...most NHLteams own the arenas or the rights.
Who will own teams...lots of spare billionaire out there willing to lose multiple millions?
Who will play? no way you could afford to pay even a fraction of what the nhl does with no sponsors, tv deals, etc.
All the minor teams are still owned by NHL teams.
A new league would lose billions before ever becoming legit. Whose going to foot that bill.
So many more issues...

Alternate league...NEVER happening.

Notice how the meter gets zoomed in more and more each time, to show that there is still optimism, even though if it was zoomed out to normal, it'd look like the meter was on the line at "Could Go Either Way".....

You can't fool me Ek....

- Giroux_Is_God

I have it on good authority that the Optimism Meter runs on coal power, with an oil-powered generator backup.

I am sad that Ek has not gone green.

this is a fantastic idea. just brilliant. i mean, there's the nagging issue of WHO THE (frank) IS GOING TO PAY THE PLAYERS but aside from that, just brilliant.

Does "progress" on that silly meter mean "progression of time"? If this is the case, then yes, we are closer to an eventual deal. Yet, why even include the other half in black? If this is not the case, well then

THERE IS NO PROGRESS!
