If a miracle happens and the league and players come to an agreement before Jan 15th , what kind of season are we looking at ?

42 games ?

Feb 1, 2013 start time ?

Extended playoffs into late June ? Early July ?

Will there be a trade deadline ?

WHy even bother right ?

I think it would take two weeks to get things going....They will try for a 48 game schedule but there is a limit as to how late the Cup Finals can finish.

I think there would be a trade deadline, my guess is about 5 weeks in front of the end of the regular season.

I'm thinking the NHL would want everyhting wrapped up by the end of June.

Just my guess...

Only reason to bother THIS season is to make sure there is a NEXT season.

If this season is cancelled, there is no guarantee they will have a new CBA in time for next season.

When hockey comes back I know I will be interested again, but I don't know if it will be to the same degree. But honestly I don't care if there's a season this year and the thought of losing a 2nd season doesn't bother be at all. Neither the NHL or NHLPA is worth much of my time anymore. I get my hockey fix from this site and rarely visit the main stream media, although that will change in the short term with the WJHC.

Of course it will be to the same degree - and it should.

Everyone who says they've had it, they won't be back - bull$hit.

Don't let the schmucks who manage the teams and the bumholes who play the game stop you from enjoying a game, played at the highest level, that you obviously (because you're an active contributor here) do enjoy.

If there's a short season my interest won't be the same. It will probably go back to close to normal in 13/14. I still love hockey and I'll follow it, but I'll spend more time following Rockford and junior.

McNeil will suit up for Canada at the WJC. An injury to Huddon opened up a roster spot.

Nice set-up by Danault on the 2nd period 5 minute PK to give Dougie Hamilton a great scoring chance on the Swedes...

And Teuvo Teravainen got a nice pass for his goal in the romp over the US.

Hey there Wiz!!

I saw Danault's pass, watched the entire game...thought he was noticeable at times, and i liked the fact that he was always out there killing penalties

Didn't know Teravainen scored, did you watch the game?

What do you think of Mark McNeil's inclusion in team Canada now?

How many years away is Teravainen from being up with the big club?

slippery slope:

If I am the GM I put out of my head any thought that TT playing in the Finn pro might result in injuries. I check his military status, b/c I am sure he wants that out of the way, before going over the pond and taking unpatriotic flack from home.

I check my present hawk roster, and look at who may be leaving, who may actually be elevated, and if roster is thick with ready guys from the 'hogs, TT stays in Finland unless he is a dominant threat game in and out there.
(I use Granlund as my barometer-the Wild were patient, even though he was clearly a pro league ready. The lock-out gives him more development. They have a plan to where he may play with the Wild in a top line if he transitions comfortably.
If he doesn't, he ends up in your farm and that may not be the most advantageous way of handling it...even over the press box.)

So to attempt to answer I say if the hawks are really strapped for offense, and truly are convinced he can walk into the fastest league in the world and contribute offensively, they bring him over in a year.
If not they wait.

This is a bit different than the Makarov situation, in that they are not gonna want him packing up and leaving once here. It will be a all in you're here and staying situation, and I think all sides have better be sure it is the correct time.

I think TSN or NHL USA will be showing the game will be reshowing the game this evening.

McNeill looks like the perfect fit with Brent Richies injury and what may be a suspension to Boone Jenner, because he can play anywhere upfront and is so chisled and strong that he will leave a message inside the rules.

Back to Jenner: I understand that the International Hockey Federation and the zebras want to protect these young'ens from injury & bad sportsmanship, but Jenner hit that kid straight on, away from the boards cle anly and may have separated the kids shoulder, I hope they don't call that a suspendable hit.

I thought they said broken ribs? Have the Russians played any exhibition games yet? I really want to see Shalunov play...what line is he playing on for Russia?

BTW, I am becoming a big Scheifele fan.
- John Jaeckel

Yeah, I started to feel the same way after I watched, but then I realized he has such great hands, but I think playing with Nugent-Hopkins and Huberdeau make him more very good.
Not to go off on my typical daily tangent, but did you happen to read all the clamoring about how the Winnipeg Press says that the Jets need overpay the Bruins to get their late choice prospect Anthony Camara (Danault's wing last game in the tourney) because he and Scheifele are a lethal combo with Barrie Colts.
Camara blossoms and both players get more deadly.

Remember how the Jets gave Scheifele a taste and then sent him back?
It speaks well to the idea to be patient.

Well if you saw any of the Subway Super Series, Shalunov was given a prominent role, and duty on PP & PP too.

Pettersson had broken ribs?
The first time I watch a game, i don't have the sound on, as it is my feeble attempt to concentrate; moving the DVR back & forth with sound drives my wife looney.

The second time I will let Gordie tell me about the action.

After Jenner was tossed I believe they said Petterson had broken ribs, and that was the quickest injury assesment in the history of hockey, at least that is the way they made it sound, they were heavy on the sarcasm etc...i guess not buying into the news that his ribs were broken...sooooo....I donno? Suspension?

You can see all the WJC's here:

Teravainen impresses me more and more. Hockey sense is very high, positioning, skating, plays the off-wing point on the PP. The goal today was a just a smart play, throwing it on net through traffic. He recognized it and really made the perfect play.

They have not. I'd say my early picks for medals are Russia, Canada, and you have to now say Finland.

These four Hawk prospects could be part of the Hawk top 6-9 in 2-3 years.

Danault is closest.

I like Scheifele's size, moves around the net. Seems to be a difference-maker.

That goal was not spectacular but was a smart, high percentage play. It is obvious this kid has high hockey sense and his many years as a rink rat living the game really show.
