Contract term affects very few players. And the players that sign with their own team can sign for seven years.

So tell me what is it in the NHL's last offer that is so objectionable that the players could not sign it?

- Khadgar

I disagree that contract term affects very few players. And so does the NHLPA.

You mean other major sports that have multiple times the amount of revenue and tv deals? Multiple times more fans? Ya, apples and apples...

If you want give and take...well the owners have increased Revenue sharing....they have given more in pension...now the players need to move to 50/50 with out these ridiculous cap gaurantees that will see them no where near 50%. And the contract consessions will be met in the middle.

Done. Could have been there back in Spetember. But the PA wouldnt get off their ass and come to the table.

- Iggysbff

The Owners have increased Revenue sharing. But that had to be negotiated by the PA to get them to do so. Nobody, myself included is expecting Revenue sharng to happen in the NHL on the same level as in other sports such as the NFL. But the Owners of the richer teams can do more then they even agreed to do.

Make Whole isn't the issue anymore. We'll see if the NHL is willing to meet in the middle on contract concessions.

I agree they coould've come to an agreement in September. But there is no way the NHL would agree to what was neccesssary to do so.

CBA talks between the NHL and the NHLPA started on June 29th.

Ya whatever...The NHL was the only party at the table in September. The PA did absolutly (frank) all until November...when the players themselves started to get involved. Their "negotiating commitee" has been an absolute (frank)ing joke!

There is a clear timeline of what has happened in the lockout. If you want to refuse to look at the facts and have that opinion. That is certainly your right. But it is factually untrue.

Here are the facts...

The NHLPA has given up now about 900 million dollars in salary to get what back?

an extra 89 million in make whole, 50 mill in pension, an extra year or two on contract length...If they were smart they could have negotiated all that way back in September but didnt. And you saying they couldn't is retarded because they didnt even try!

Thats the FACTS!

If you think the NHLPA could've gotten that deal back in September. You simply haven't been paying attention.

MJL is by far the most desperate/pathetic poster I have ever seen on this site. His undying need to pound away with the same tired message is simply incredible. Posting on this site has got to be the #1 priority in his life.

The irony is, it only turns more and more further against him, and in turn, the NHLPA. People only hate them more.

Good job!

Pulling heads out of their asses would have gone a long way to getting a deal done. Unfortuinately their leadership wanted to jerk off instead.

I don't understand how people can fail to follow a very simple concept.

There is a strike, or a lockout, when one side is not happy with the status quo and the other side is wanting to continue.

To think that the side that is striking or locking out should also be giving back, is retarded. Sure, they might give stuff back during the course of negotiations as everything is up for discussion. But they are the ones initiating this, they don't have to "give" to the other side.

Mind blowing stuff.

Ive tried to drive this point home over and over and they just cant grasp it.
This is a lockout. The owners arent happy with the current situation and want/need change.

The same tired response over and over that just cant seem to comprehend this.
"but, but, but, it's not fair. they have to give"
No they dont.
Theyve given up on many issues they wanted in order to get a deal done. but if u want to play in their league, u need to give them the crux of what they want. If not enjoy europe and unemployment.

If these players let this season go its goin to be much worse for them come next summer.

And you've failed repeatedly to grasp the point that supporters of the PA are aware that this is a lockout and that the Owners want /need change. Most PA supporters, myself included object to how they're going about that change.

If the Owners are unhappy with the League and want and need change then do it. Make real changes that might have a lasting effect. Change from within. Take responsibility and change. Nobody is stopping them from doing so. But their idea of change is to repeatedly take from the players. That's change?

The players are willing to do their share, and have been willing since the beginning of this.

What issues have the Owners given up on to get a deal done?
And in a Collective Bargaining negotiation, the players don't have to give the Owners everything they want. They can negotiate an agreement. If what you said was true, then there wouldn't be a negotiation. The Owners would just say here's the CBA, sign here!

And here's where you last point is off the mark. You omitted the Owners from the equation.
Stating that if the players and Owners let this Season go, then it's going to be much worse for everybody next Summer, is far more accurate.

Seems you fail to grasp how to make a single post...and remove a double post.

The players have not been willing to do their share...the owners are trying to put restrictions in place to stop the back-diving cap circumvention contracts.

Players just want MOAR MONEY.
