Don't act like you've seen Hamhuis play more than a couple times a year.
Guy was 10th in Norris voting, so he can't be that far off. - Fosco
Dan Girardi was 6th. Brian Campbell was 7th. Can I assume you think they're top 10 dmen and better than Hamhuis? |

I think a case could be made.
Dan Girardi is a fantastic defensman. Physical, extremely solid in his own zone, and puts up a few points. One of the most underrated players in the league.
Campbell is also a great defensman. I wouldn't put him on the same level as Hamhuis in the defensive end, but he's far from a liability, and is better offensively than Hamhuis. Great skater and puck rusher, very good passer as well.
I wouldn't rank Campbell 7th, personally, but I wouldn't rank him too much lower. |

It would be a pretty weak case.
None of them are top 10 in the league. Good dmen? Sure. Not top 10. |

I disagree.
I think Girardi is, for sure. Campbell and Hamhuis would be around 10th—don't really feel like making a list.

My thoughts, exactly.
It would be riddled with homer picks like Campbell and Girardi... |

I'm not big on those kind of shows but Wicked Tuna gets me on the edge of my seat eveytime they hook up. I downloaded the 1st season off of Isohunt.

+56 over the past two seasons disagrees with you. Only other D who has been better has been Chara. |

And Frankie Corrado can't even manage a positive +/- in the OHL. I guess that means he sucks, and they were right for cutting him so quickly.

I hate to be the one to bring this up, but Hamhuis's Corsi, relative Corsi, and Qual Comp stats are all pretty impressive, as well.
But nice job trying to change the subject... |

I wasn't changing the subject. If he's going to bring up +/- like it proves something, he better be prepared for it to be used against him. That was my point. |

That's why I brought up the advanced stats. On their own I doubt the merits of +/- and advanced stats, but if they corroborate....well, the shoe seems to fit in all regards, doesn't it?
Wish it was easier to track down advanced stats for the CHL. |

Corrado is Procks replacement for Hodgson. After Prock short changes the prospect for 2-3 years and makes an ass of himself, he'll hitch his troll wagon to some other Canuck prospect. The only criteria is how popular the prospect is with Nuc's fans, not the quality of the prospect.
The mental state of a bitter Leafs fan.
Cheer up. This season you are nowhere near the bottom of the standings. |

Funny thing is that a good majority of Canucks fans view him for what he is, a nice surprise that has the potential/upside to be a good second pairing d-man. He's obviously not a lock to become a solid NHL'er but he a good shot if he continues to develop. |

And where is that incredible first line talent "BESTEST PROSPECT IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD" now?
You guys just get a little ridiculous over some of your prospects, and this is just a prime example of it. There were nucks fans for a week giving us crap like “Corrado > Rielly, Finn, Percy”.
And that’s absurd. Finn is just as good now, and he’s a year younger. Rielly shouldn’t even be in the conversation. He’s MILES better. Realistically, if you guys want a Leafs prospect you should be comparing to, it’s Jesse Blacker. Played the number one defensive dman role on a strong Windsor team, and the number one dman spot on the OHL champs Owen Sound. OHL Dman of the year finalist. Team Canada camp, but cut. Their paths are incredibly similar, with Blacker achieving a little more. So, if anything, Blacker is a little better of a prospect.
But if you ever saw a Leaf fan talking about Jesse Blacker making the 2018 Olympic team, they’d get roasted. That’s the realistic equivalent of what Esplen put up in his blog.

Was Ian not joking when he suggested this?
If he wasn't, then I agree, it's absurd. Like Nucker said, most Canucks fans hope Frankie will become a solid 2nd/3rd pairing D, which is something to get mildly excited about, especially from a 5th round pick.
I haven't seen a single SERIOUS post comparing Corrado and Rielly. |

Nope, he was serious. There's nothing to indicate a joke in this:

Just show us some quotes for once. I know you well enough over the last few years that you just fabricate Canuck fan quotes and spend years trolling over stuff you made up...
I remember most of the praises having to do with how well he played against Russia and how solid he was in camp. The comparisons to the elite prospects were about that only. The here and now.
He's a 5th round pick. He's looking like a really solid prospect. Go ahead troll away. You make Leaf fans look so petty that I'm surprised they don't poop down your throat every time you open your mouth.

Dude, every single fanbase is professional sports has fans that overrate their players/prospects including Leafs fans. You keep bringing up these Blacker comparisons yet I remember reading Leafs fans last year and the year before that he was top 4 future d-man and a steal. Luke Schenn was also supposed to be a top pairing d-man, James Reimer was supposed to be the next great young goalie, Kadri was supposed to be on your top line by now according to Leaf fans when he was drafted and so on.
And no sane/realistic Canucks fan would defend Ian's predictions, and a few of us have even commented with our disagreement and some of his homer views on multiple blogs, including myself. |

oh, don't get me wrong, I like Blacker as a prospect. Good at both ends of the ice, talented kid. That's not really a knock against Corrado.
I'm just saying, if someone had said that, a blogger nonetheless, Leaf fans would be getting an earful.
And after dealing with Canuck trolls for a week chirping, you reap what you sow. |
