This may be outside of your topic, but I think it hurts the Canucks as a whole, if the season is lost. A lot of players in the prime of their careers, Alex Edler, who's one of the best young defensemen in the league, walking away as a UFA for nothing. Higgins and Lapierre both free agents I believe, that's a major part of our bottom six depth gone (possible) to free agency.

This year was a year that the Canucks had a chance to win it all again, but now we'll never know...sadly.

just looked at the fa's next summer. some pretty good defencemen, but almost all are old or dont have many prime years left..

It'll be interesting to see what happens. I hope, for Vancouver's sake, that he does stay with you guys. Hopefully he buys into the whole taking less for the team culture that you've got going on there. Look no further than Ehrhoff to see that greed can lead to failure.

I don't know what Edler's relationship is like with Salo or even Ohlund. Nor do I know whether or not Hedman and Edler have any sort of relationship. But optically, I would think that Tampa's defense would be a pretty attractive opportunity for Edler.
