it seems to me the best bet forthe Pens is Scuderi and Iggy, i mean if you guys could afford what Perry is likely to command i doubt you would've had to trade staal...plus Iggy would fit perfectly on Crosby's line without a need for long term commitment....i'd love to see Iggy in a Habs uniform but i just dont know if we'll be winning the cup in the next 5 years which is likely around how long Iggy's career has left

Losing Staal had nothing to do with money. I like Iginla but he's too long in the tooth to justify his price tag for me.

At what price would you want Iginla?

I would go as high as 6, but only on a 1 year term. I wouldn't go more than 2 years regardless.

I'm in the minority and will say that I wouldn't want Scuds back. Not that I don't likeh im but he'll be 35 and the Pens are loaded with talent on defense in their system. What's the purpose of drafting those players if you aren't going to give them a chance over an old player? I rather see them go after a sniper. Perry would be my #1 target.

that Staal trade wasnt about money, he got the exact same deal from the Canes as the Pens offered. It was all about playing with his brother. Shero did really well to get back what he did.

Another thing I have noticed with players who play Scuds type of game, they can be doing really well, then all of a sudden fall of the map, it doesn't seem to be a natural slow decline, just like a cliff, gone. At 35 he would be a prime candidate to have that happen to him, and that would just be taking up roster space for that youth that is supposed to be good enough to impact not just play in the NHL.

Was there any part of it being about not being the 3rd fiddle any more? I'd assumed that to be part of it.

I'd like to see one of Cullen, Clowe, Perry, or Ference signed.

Yes, I'm sure that played a part in his decision as well.

i just dont see how the sharks don't resign Clowe...he's still young enough to be a future factor for the team along with Couture, especially when it comes time for them to part ways with Marleau and/or Thornton

yeah i think the Pens would be perfect for him because its a win-win for everyone involved

- he'd be on a legitimate contender
- doesnt have the pressure of being the main guy, so i wouldnt doubt it if he put up the kind of numbers selanne has put up in the last 5 years being 35+ (maybe not in the 90s because its not the same as the game was right after the lockout but still probably 70-80 bieng the 4th go to forward on the team, especially on a line with....well it doesnt really matter if its Gino or Crosby
- the pens wouldnt have to go long term with him
-the pens would finally have as good of a finisher as any on crosby's wing

yes I have a feeling he wanted a bigger role, so he had 2 destinations finding that, NYR and CAR, and for a bigger role CAR suited better.

It's no secret that if I could hand pick any winger in the NHL it would be Corey Perry, won't be easy though, will be tons of offers given to him.

Pens won't and shouldn't win the bidding war for Perry. Number one priority should be locking up Malkin long term. I'd love to see Iggy for 2 years. 5 mil max per year.

If somehow Perry reaches UFA, all 30 teams are going to be knocking hard. I suspect BB will offer him the moon. He's the exact player he likes on his teams.
Getzlaf likely won't be moving, however.

Burke will go strong for sure if any of his RPG Duck forwards are available.

Malkin negotiations will be pretty straight forward

I hope so. I really don't know why a player would want to sign in Toronto though. The team has a future but the media is suffocating.

Shero better offer him the world. In my opinion he's without a doubt the best player in the world, with Crosby being the close second.

I don't know how you feel about MAF, but I don't think he's clutch enough. If you guys could stay healthy, get a game stealing goalie and a big minutes shutdown D, then theres no reason why you couldnt have a cup every other year.

Fleury had a bad playoff series against the Flyers but that doesn't eliminate his past successes. He was money in the 2008 and 2009 playoffs. Also in 2011 when Crosby, Malkin, and Staal were out he put the team on his back and got them in the playoffs. Kovalev and Letestu were on the top line.

2011-2012 regular season was excellent as well until Paul Martin steamrolled him in April. Much like when Miller got ran over it took time to clear the cobwebs, unfortunately for Fleury and the Pens, they didnt have the time with the playoffs looming.

Burke won't go after Perry, he's from the OHL.
