I wonder how effective Meszaros is going to be when he comes back. The Flyers are really going to need the skillset he has on the blueline.

This is (nearly) an understatement. I could have alternately responded, "And how."

If I remember correctly, Marc Andre Fleury isn't going to get the amnesty clause.
- KGBflyers10

Mark Andre Fleury won a cup with the Pens and has a long track record with the Pens. Bryz has no such history with the Flyers.

It's been 5 years since Bryz showed up in the playoffs. His days with the Ducks.

The same people who will say that all Bryz needs is a heavy workload to be successful are the same people that will excuse his Phoenix playoff numbers due to be overworked. Can't have it both ways.

Can't wait for Scoob to chime in on this one...

Phoenix playoff numbers just might have to do with facing the Red Wings, but what do I know?

Well, at this rate he'll be plenty healthy and no more removed from the game than anybody else.

As long as Bryz has no responsibilty it's all good and god help us if we ever have to face the Wings in the Stanley Cup finals.

Well, maybe some of 'those same people' feel you're describing the delicate balance a team faces with a clear cut starting goaltender. It's not simply a Boolean 'play him as many as possible' or 'play him less than X games no matter what', it's not as simple as that. We hear this same conversation from a number of fanbases.

But you can't just fault Bryz for his dearth of playoffs experience in Philadelphia, he's only been here one season. He's had one run with us, in which he definitely wasn't part of the reason they went golfing in the end. That's not to say we can't ask for more next time.

It's good to be talking about players on ice performance than off ice performance for once.

Especially this particular player. Now if only we could get them all on the ice somehow!

I felt like Bryz was getting it together near the end of last season...NHL First Star of the month in March, set the Flyers record for longest shutout streak...then he broke his foot.

My memory is failing me right now on that series. But I will generalize - all facets of the team have to work together to succeed.

I still stand by my opinion that Bryz is better when he plays. A #1 and a #1A splitting time rarely works out well for either goalie. Imho the #1 has to know that he's the #1.

Love him or hate him, over half the userbase on this site talks about the guy daily. I really don't care if you like him or not (to clarify, this is not an insult), but I think it's funny how many people get their panties in a knot over his posts.

But maybe he should be on the front page, with all the traffic he drives to the forums. poop, the ad revenue generated from username Aetherial's daily poopstream decrying the guy is probably enough to prevent ScalrBuzz from ever happening again!

And yet "fans" still ask about buying him out.

Jonathan Quick would look bad with our D in front of him.

Seriously guys, if this team is allowed to buy out anyone its going to be Pronger. Period.

I would agree if they could. But I don't know if you'll be able to use it on an injured player.
