And if they don't win it all from this, which they likely won't, we'll have to wait even longer for them to be competitive again.
It's just an awful trade if it happens. It'd be a clear win for the Mets. - daeth
That's a positive attitude.
The window is 3-4 years, go big or go home. Both the Yankees and Red Sox are reworking their lineups, it's now or never. |

I dont agree. Even if they dont win it all, but compete by making the playoffs and winning a round or two then its a success. More specifically if that happens over the span of a few years. Becoming relevant again, and in contention, will attract the premier players down the road.
The Jays farm system, still have a strong core and are probably still near the top 10 in the league. (closer 10 than 5 IMO). The team itself has a lot of young parts and elements to it too. Remember JP our other top catching prospect at one time? If this doesnt pan out, they'll have the assets to tear it down and rebuild once again.
Its stunning how people forget that JPA was once a top prospect, that we still have Laurie, Rasmus, Gose, Morrow, Johnson, Encarnation, Romero etc etc all under 30. This is not an old team with just a tiny window to either win it all in one season or be deemed and doomed to failure. Sure Richardey is almost 40, but as a knuckleballer he should still have another 3-4 good years in him.
Moves like these will have a variety of opinions and views, none of which are wrong, but I would think after all weve endured as Jays fans and our irrelevance since the b2b WS where we went after the big names, this would be a welcome change. - systemtool

Agreed, at some point it's not about the future anymore, it's about trying to win now.
They have been selling futures for years, and then explaining how the new guys are rookies and it takes time to get experience yada yada.
As if a guy who has made it to the majors doesn't know how to hit the cutoff man and go half way on a fly ball. Bull.
I don't mind this at all. Think LA regrets giving up Simmonds etc for Richards? |

I don't think they'll win by 58 like last week, but they should take it.

And now the Jays are potentially going to trade their top two prospects for a 37 year old pitcher.
- daeth
An absolute horrific trade if they include D'Arnaud for a 38 year old. |

Pretty much sums it up. How many years now have we been sold the bill of good on player development and prospects only to watch none of it unfold as it should.
Going by some of the reactions, you'd think the Jays just traded Trout. |

I wouldn't cry myself to sleep if they trade D'Arnaud. But I can't swallow it if it's for D1ckey...pun totally intended. |

The Jays pretty much traded Roy Halladay for RA Dickey in a delayed fashion.
My question is, what are the odds Halladay comes back when he's a UFA in two years?
Most of this off season has been a dream scenario for Jays fans. What's one more? |

I was just looking forward to having a catcher that could hit. I know, I know...he's a prospect and might not amount to poop. But they were pretty high on that kid. Maybe Halladay will demand a trade back to Toronto? I'd masturbate.
But it is gonna be sweet as (frank) to see a knuckler every 5 days. |

Halladay left because the Jays weren't giving him a chance to win. That might change if this team on paper turns into a team on the field. |

Jays have 72 hrs to negotiate an extension. Deal off if they can't. Sorry if this is old. |

Which is pretty much AA calling the guys upstairs to see if they can afford 36 million more dollars over the next 3 years. |

TSN doesn't even have it on the scoreboard.
It really is sad how most of the media is more concerned about the NHL and the lockout than they are covering the hockey teams that are still playing. |

They play every CFL game yet don't even have a "players" tab like every other league does. |
