Not to mention, as long as there is the KHL and all of the other professional leagues in Europe, the players will never be able to win a Anti-Trust suit. They aren't being forced to play in North America. They are free to play in Russia and carry their own bags, fly on planes that could crash, and hope they don't need a doctor during a game if they have a heart attack or get an artery cut.

But of course, the players never think about those expenses when they are negotiating.

You said players won't want to sign in Edmonton when they have choices like Toronto

Anyway, who wants to play a game?

Cool, let's go...

Which team has the longest current playoff drought? Hmmmmmm

- laughs2907

He also said less appealing to live there than many other options, has a big mall and (frank) all (bet he thought he was real clever with that rhyme) it's a joke to call it a big city and oh my personal favorite, there isn't much good about living there. Must be nice to live on a high n mighty perch and be able to talk down about a city like that. Based on nothing more than an ignorant arrogant attitude.

Apparently there's a lot of people who are convinced that Stamkos will be signing Toronto as well. They're going to be a force... But then again, aren't they always?
- laughs2907

Stamkos will be a 4th liner in Toronto. Maybe they can steal Freakorenko from the Sabres. That would make them Chuck Norris unstoppable.

Shut you filthy newfie whore mouth.... Everybody wants to play in Toronto.... You just wait until Seguin, Hamilton, amd Rask leave Boston to join the mighty Phil 'the thrill' Kessel.
- RichardHertz

I prefer Phil 'the vessel' Kessel.

Arguing with you is pointless... You live in an alternate universe. 98% of the people who read your rubbish will agree to this.

You posted that every post I make is wrong. I made a post on the previous page concerning Cloutier's statement that St. Louis is being kept out of the process. So step up, back up your post. And tell me how I'm wrong!

If it is collusion, tell me why so many company in the world have a step and grade pay systems? Instead of a manager saying the salary for a supervisor is 50K, it would be a GM saying the salary for a 4th year, 3rd line forward is 800K.

As for collusion, they league would argue they are 1 company with 30 divisions, not 30 separate companies.

- dgutzman

They are 30 companies and would lose that argument. Does GMs pay system apply to the highest paid people in the company?

Seeing the Oilers fan react to the irrelevance is pretty funny too. Just watch, they have hardcore family guy photoshops and they arent afraid to use it.

Just nod and tell them how everyone loves Edmonton and wants to be there. Just ask Pronger.

Lmao you sure got me there.
So I noticed that I have proven everything you have said is wrong(holy freaking jebus can there actually be smeone here more lame than I) and noticed you have completely ignored the facts.
1) NY Rangers built their only Cup winning team thru the draft and thru trade and only adding a couple pieces thru UFA route. (They actually have lost more since trying to buy the Championships. I'll call it the Sather ERA in NY).
2) That in Baseball The Yankees though spnding the most cash haven't really won the most in comparrisson to say Florida or say St Louis. Hell I think Arizona has won as many as NY. (This point is more Ruttagers and several other posters here).
By the way it has been quoted in many areas (TSN, ESPN, Sportnet.....etc. Yes I listen to ESPN on Saturdays and Sundays on the Team 1260) the MLB soft cap penalties are so great only a couple teams can afford to go over. NY Yankees and Boston are the main culprits. It has been Said SF Giants spent over it the last couple years in the Bonds era. Florida did it twice the years they won then immeadiatly traded all their talent away to rebuild thru the draft and trade again.

BTW If the NHL wins their antitrust case(via ERIC MACRAMALLA TSN's legal expert and lawyer) the NHL would wipe all the existing contracts off the books and it would a complete do-over. I believe the NHL would look to put in a system very similar to the NFL since Bettman has used them as an example while Fehr's example has been MLB.

I heard Stamkos will be taking league minimum to play in Toronto. Freakorenko would have been a top line player on the Oilers from the 80's, so I see him being on Toronto's 2nd... Maybe 3rd line?

Are we really comparing them to:

Phillies, Yankees, Cards, Tigers, Rangers, Angels, Giants?

A's and O's are one year wonders.

- systemtool

No I am not comparing. More money is better but every year just as many low salary teams are in top half of standings as high salary teams.

He is also saying the top spending teams in baseball dont dominate the league. Because if you're 7th out of 30, you're in the middle...

Because there are only 10 teams in the top spending and 20 outside. And no, there arent just as many actually making the playoffs.

you wont win any baseball arguments with "Fehr" fanboys

The Pirates were an awesome team every year when I was a kid, they haven't been relevant in over 20 years because of the way the MLB was fuc&ed up

Go back and read about how life was in the 50's, and 60's for players before unions evolved for the players. You are forgetting that without the CBA, it wouldn't mean there would be a 'free market'. The League could still make up their own rules. Whether they did remains to be seen. The league could impose a step and grade system that takes the negotiating out of the players hands. They could treat it just like any other company and impose salary levels. They could make pay based on years of service and other metrics. Pay could be based on past performance, not future potential. While the big market teams might like to buy the league, in order for the league to coexist in a non CBA, the Commish would have to impose rules to keep it a fair playing field. Trust me. They players want no part of a non-cba world. They would quickly find out what the rest of us already know. Without a CBA, the owners have only one goal. To make money. And all rules would be based on making money, regardless of how it impacts the 'employees'.
- dgutzman

Correct me if I'm wrong. But regardless of whether there is a Union or not. There are still laws that are in place to protect employees, correct? It's just that the rules are different.
