Won't get into it much, but Hamhuis is better by a lot and I would take Juice in the playoffs over edler as well (he just seems to play his best hockey then). Haven't seen much of Garrison, when I have he's been ok.
I like Edler don't get me wrong, but he is not a 6 million dollar D. - IanEsplen
Hamhuis is better defensively, but not really close offensively. Edler's defensive lapses are so overblown, and Hamhuis's are never mentioned because he's a BC boy who can do no wrong. He had a few stretches last season where he did not play well—one being around the loss to Buffalo after the trade deadline—and they are instantly forgiven. Hell, he (frank)ed up royally against the Kings in the playoffs, but somehow Edler still gets blamed.
He's a number one on half the teams in the league, only 26 years old, and had improved his offensive totals every season, but sure, he's topped out as a 3/4. Can't even believe this rubbish. |

I love how Corrado is getting all this attention now. A month ago most Canucks fans couldn't tell you who he was! - DarthKane
Not true.
Our depth ain't that great so Corrado has been on everyone's radar for some time. We're just happy we have some talent in our system. |

I wouldn't categorize you in the "most Canucks fans" categories. You seem to know a lot more than the average Canucks fan.
From all the fans I've spoken with and from what I've read online not many people know Carrado. Even I didn't know who he was, granted I'm not a Canucks fan but I do live in Vancouver and follow the Canucks. |

While true, i am not sure why you did not use the same system for the last lockout? I believe 4-5 teams would get 3 balls , with the rest getting 2 or 1 ball depending on factors. Some of the factors for getting balls was missing playoffs 2-3 years in a row. You would lose a ball if you picked 1st two times in a row in 3 years. I can't remember the rest.
As some others have said Vancouver would have little chance of picking #2 if old system was in place. - nigelwright275
I can think of Columbus, Calgary, NYI Toronto getting 3 balls... who else? |

We've been discussing him on here for quite a long time. He's also been a popular topic on many of the other Canuck boards on the interwebs since he was drafted.
I'd imagine the "average" NHL fan doesn't follow their team's prospect pool too extensively, apart from the top few prospects. |

Nucks #2 and the Leafs get #24. How very ummm "random".
Love the absolutely nonsensical mock draft order. Does this mean we're going to get to hear more about the all time team NHL 13 Sim league? - 1979AD
Hockeybuzz is the best. People are actually mildly outraged by some made up mock draft order. Don't worry, we all know the Leafs are so terrible that they'll get a high pick and the Canucks are good enough to get a pick near the bottom. |

Fair enough. I agree, there are a lot of bandwagon jumpers here in Vancouver.

Should the season be lost, it would be interesting to have the draft lottery percentages done by averaging a team's last three draft positions. Yes I know where the Oilers picked the last three years.
It might also be interesting to do a snake draft. I dunno what do you guys think of those ideas? |

I approve of this draft!! For all of you haters, Buffalo has never won anything...ever. .....NLL Bandits Lacrosse team doesn't count. Pittsburgh got Crosby, we got Zagrapan ...with the same number of ping pong balls. Heck, even the NYR picked just above us and they got Marc Staal. My name is Billy Buffalo and I approve of this message. |

This is exactly why we need a season. Any season. Edmonton at #27? Same thing that happened last lockout... they were a terrible team that should have been in line for a top 15 selection, got screwed in the lottery, and ended up with the worst pick of all teams with 3 balls in the draw. They picked Cogliano at, I think 27?
Anyway, have a season, any season, and the Oilers pick in the top 10 (for the last time in the next ten years). |

They won a coin flip in 1970 for the number one pick and Vancouver got stuck with the two pick. |

I like whatever idea gets Colorado the highest initial pick... I know not that constructive, but that's really all I care about lol. |

McKinnon
Grigerenko
Ennis
Hodgson
Ott
How do you even begin to formulate logic lines if the team was stacked like that?
- Viktory
Ennis and Ott can also play LW
Grigorenko can play RW if necessary
Vanek-McKinnon-Pominville
Foligno-Hodgson-Stafford
Ennis-Grigorenko-Armia
Ott-Girgensons-Kaleta
I'd be REALLY ok with that forward group
A lot of those guys can be switched onto different lines & play multiple positions... It'd give us some nice versatility |

I know coming out of the last lockout you got a ball for never winning the cup, so if hes going off that then its not any crazier than any other team getting it.
Then again he didnt take Bettman into account....(Find struggling franchise aaaaaaaand 1st overall pick!) - Rally_Shots
Hahaha, true...
I guess it's gonna be Phoenix getting McKinnon then |

I think the teams shoul be ranked from 1-30 based on how they finished last season
Team with worst record gets 30 balls, next 29, etc... Untill u get to the playoff teams where number of balls would be determined by how far u got, so Cup champion LA gets 1 ball with new jersey getting 2 balls
and the idea of a snake draft could be interesting also to try and balance it out a little, at least for round2, then maybe have rounds 3-7 based solely by record from previous year

Ian Esplen: Mock Draft- V1.0
Mock Draft- V1.0 - IanEsplen
sorry Ian this list is kinda garbage......
first off in what world do the canucks end up with the 2nd overall pick...even if it happened Bettman would probably find a way to veto it lol
secondly as a habs fan even if Drouin would be nice i think Bergevin would be retarded to pick him over Barkov
and lets not even get to the fact that you honnestly put Hunter Shinkaruk ahead of Barkov and Sean Monahan is gonna be an amazing 2 way player but he's not worth the risk of missing out on a legitimate superstar candidate in Barkov.... |

i REAALLY wanna know why....because man to be honnest what if Pittsburgh ends up with #1...so you want em to add MacKinnon to Crosby and Gino.....even if they'd probably pick Jones.....just sayin those scenarios are crazy and unfair i think that when you do an equal opportunity draft you should at least give the bottom 5 teams of the league their own mini lottery for picks 1 to 5....the Isles and Columbus need wayy too much help
i'd be saying that even if the Habs werent in the bottom 5 |
|
|
|
Ughh...Can you make this more realistic?
It would be really hard for the Leafs to finish 24th overall? Considering when they make a fair system, Buffalo finished the worst with 3 balls at 13.

In a hypothetical world where the draft order is chosen by a random draw where each team has an equal opportunity to pick first....it's pretty clearly stated in the blog. |
