Isn't OEL from the Desert??

I mean this is ridiculous that we're arguing about this.....it's not like great players are always from a "hockey" town. If you're gifted, you're gifted

- Giroux_Is_God

No. He's from Sweden and currently plays in Portland, Maine.

Pennsylvania has produced 28 players that played in the NHL.

California has produced 27.

Hmmmm....I'm too lazy to look it up but I'm pretty sure there's a real promising kid in the NHL from the Phoenix area. I could be wrong

Point still stands, however

San Jose is a hockey city?
- Flyers_1488

I think this is a common misnomer by many. Hockey does actually exist outside of Canada and the US east cost. San Jose has been one of the more successful teams over the past 10 years, why is it so hard to believe they have a major following in their home town? Obviously it's not what most would consider a "traditional hockey market", mostly just because it's warm climate locale. But, doesn't mean they can't be considered a "hockey city".

I do, actually. I have an anatomy lecture playing in my ear right now!

Curse you Dr. Zink

And fixed

- Giroux_Is_God

You're a hell of a multi-tasker! poop, I can barely chew gum and walk let alone study, listen to a lecture and post on a sports blog site simultaneously. I have to have complete quiet and no movement whatsoever just to read a book.

You... You're good you! Keep up the good work, make Mom and Dad proud!

I went to a Bolts game out there last December. Game itself was awful but the arena was nice inside and out. Building was full.

I absolutely agree with your bolded comment.

I don't have anything hot off the press here, but the following list of top NHL player producing states was done in 2010. If somebody has something newer by all means post it. This is all I could find but probably still holds fairly true.

#1 - Minnesota (36)

#2 - Michigan (27)

#3 - New York (26)

#4 - Massachusetts (15)

#5 - Wisconsin (9)

Majority of all American born players eminate from a whopping 5 states.

The optimism meter remains high so Ek can continue to frequent Golden Corral with Scott Paterno. Somebody's gotta pay the bills.
