team lost how much money last year?
- flashfire

San Jose is a hockey city. Big Sharks following, always sell out games, lots of people play in juniors, rec and beer leagues.

My completely uneducated guess. We'll see 15 games on New Years Day.

That would be AWESOME....

"The optimism meter remains high because it's hard to find anyone who believes the season will be canceled"

In which universe is this thought prevalent?

amazing how this charade is still going on.

Words- with love, from me, to you- Misters Bettman and Fehr:

Big man, Pig Man- ha ha, charade you are
You well heeled big wheel- ha ha, charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
Saying "keep on digging"
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find?
When you're down in the pig mine
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh

But you're really a cry

Ek,

What kind of impact to the Red Wings NHLPA members does Michigan's passing the "Right to Work" legislation have?

My cousin moved to the SJ area last year. He was shocked at how much of a "Hockey City" it is. He also said the Men's leagues out there are pretty fast. Good for SJ. Some cities should take note.

How many bonafide Hockey cities or states lost money? Not really sure what your point is with this comment. Because a team loses money they can't be mentioned or referred to as a "hockey market"?

Eck, i have been reading you throughout this standoff, an no offense you have been wrong, alot! here's something to consider, this will be Mr. Bettman's 3rd CBA negotiated, why would anyone believe he has it right this time? The first two he negotiated were bad for the league, i get the feeling this one will be also! as long as the owners count on the players to save their business there will always be problems
- magarats

I dont get people that think this way? Think of the league when Bettman came in...it was a gong show. Players were getting 75% of revenue and many teams struggled and died. There was no parity and small market teams could not hold onto their players. The league has made great strides over the years. Would you have rather they take everything away from the players all at once? They have made steps each CBA to getting a good balance and I beleive they are almost there.

A league that is good for the owners (who have a right to make money), the players, who make pooploads of money to play a game, and fans who can watch their team with the hope that anything can happen and any team can compete for a cup.

If yuo dont think the game is good...(frank) off!

Ek, remember when Fehr blindsided you and the rest of the media last week?

The most likely reason that the players feel positive is because Fehr told them that the deadline for saving the season is soon and that he expects the NHL to crack.

- Flyers_01

Doesnt matter...his (frank) up already cost the players another $250 million in cancelled games...more than they were fighting for (another 80 mill). The guy is an arrogant wiener and has cost players MILLIONS!

I'm not a labour lawyer, but I'm pretty sure it gives Roman Hamrlik the right to opt out of the union.

I don't like how people think "well if not a traditional hockey market... " just because it wasn't before doesn't mean it will always stay that way...50 years down the line hockey may be huge in Phoenix.. Who knows? Just a thought, and nothing against you in general.

San Jose is a really good hockey town actually. They lost some money last year because the team didnt perform. They are built to be profitable by going a couple rounds in the playoffs. If they dont get those extra games in...they lose money. They go deep, they make money.

Isn't OEL from the Desert??

I mean this is ridiculous that we're arguing about this.....it's not like great players are always from a "hockey" town. If you're gifted, you're gifted

if all we are basing "hockey city" on is a nicely supported NHL team than it's no worse than Philadelphia.
