It's amazing how many people seem so surprised at Garth's infatuation with writing a ridiculous amount of blogs about certain players...we've seen it plenty times before and now all the visitors here are making it as some new thing.

Grigorenko doesn'thave to worry about the lockout ruining him, as soon as Lindy gets a hold of him his will destroy him.

Once again, I've never seen a player drafted 12th overall bashed so much.

It's not really him getting bashed though. He's a good young prospect. He was, at one point, ranked in the top 3 or 4, wasn't he? If asked, no one would deny that he's a good prospect, and probably should have gone higher than he did in the draft. It's the over-the-top gushing about him.

The hottest centre in the wokey universe? I don't know what it is, but he's not, in any universe. He's not even leading the Q. And there are several players in the OHL and WHL doing as well, or better.

Again, good prospect. What is being said is over the top. And I realize it's just Garth. But the retorts are all in good fun. Most anyway.

I'm by all means not promoting the troll comments but do some of you not feel you're expectations for this kid may be just a tad high? I mean he has yet to prove himself in the NHL. Many junior prospects put up amazing stats before turning pro only to disappoint ie. Stefan, Daigle and the list goes on. Anyways why should I care, my team is the master of ruining prospects, hope your team does not do the same with Grigo.
- Hockey_Hoser

Perhaps you mistake Garth's cheerleading as being the same as the educated Buffalo Sabre's fans . The two are not the same . We do not need endless trolls to come here and tell he is a flop when he has not even skated a single shift in the NHL. Who has that crystal ball that predict the success or failure of any teams prospect. He is our prospect and we are allowed to be optimistic about his potential because he does have some skills that could translate well in the next level.

No need for the spray, just bring in a pair of your mom's panties. Anything that's been near that putrid smelling dusty old mitt is good enough to keep me far far away.
- Oilersforlife

Don't have any of my mothers panties , sorry she passed away . I suggest you find a pair from any female family member of yours for the desired effect you are looking for troll.

Agreed. Grigo is a great prospect and I was pissed when Burke didn't take him. I just love making fun of these blogs. You guys have a great prospect, but I'm sure not many of you would defend your blogger.

And he's a year younger.

But again, Galchenyuk would be the one that's lighting things up right now, over both of them. 31 points in his last 16 games.

Then, of course, there's Connor McDavid. 19 points in his last 17 games. Oh. And he's 15 years old.

- prock

I watch a lot of OHL (GO KNIGHTS) but Connor McDavid is a (frank)ing beast. The skills the kid displays as a 15 year old should be illegal.

Yeah, it's obscene. He drives the net like he's 20. FAst as hell, skilled. The kid is unreal.

That kid is a beast . Did you see he is about to sign an endorsement deal with Reebock . He will be the youngest player ever to do so . All ready projected to be the #1 pick in the 2015 draft . We hopefully we won't be in a position to draft #1 . Only Edmonton is lucky and futile enough to draft #1 - 3 years in a row.

Garth makes Sabres fans looking like drooling morons. You know your stuff prock, and I enjoy your posts.

Just want people to realize that no Sabres fan thinks Grigo is the next Gretzky. A Spezza-type? Possibly. The next Daigle? Just as possible. High risk, high reward.

Grigorenko was absolutely the right decision for the Sabres. He might not pan out but at the 12th pick why not take your #1 position of need with a guy who was ranked in the top 5 at one point? The risk/reward with the pick is totally within reason.

The Bills get blasted year after year for not taking a chance on a QB in the draft, the Sabres are taking a chance on their QB (#1 center). I give them credit for going for it. Seems the only way you acquire talent for that role (#1 center/QB) is the draft, so you have to draft one.

Agreed, but at this point, you can't stop there. You need to keep drafting them (QB and center) until you hit on one. Use the rest as trade bait if they're worth anything.

That really is the story of most of this site. Do you think people really take Eklund's optimismeter seriously? Did you know he called and polled 50 NHL players the other day? BAhahahahahaha. It's just fodder for discussion. Eklund, Augello, Garth, it's all the same thing. There are some exceptions, and some very good writers here, like Yost, for example, but the majority are just discussion fodder. And Augello and Ek get poked fun at just as much as Garth. Eklund actually gets it way worse, for obvious reasons. It's just fun though.

Agreed. Too important of a position to not have a guy or to not be trying to acquire that guy.
