EK, I am so sorry that your top 2% earner friends won't have a paycheck in December. Maybe that should take those skills and education and switch careers.

Until owners decide that they have enough and getting a deal is more important than getting rid of Fehr. Do they really want to die on the hill of 5/7 contract limits vs 7/8 years?

There is no way that Bettman throws away the season over the gap between the two sides right now. Fehr knows this and Gary is pissed that Fehr knows it.

Are the players really willing to leave the 300M make whole on the table for contract limits of 7/8yrs instead of 5/7, and a 8+2yrs CBA? The players don't want to lose a full season, not only a full year salary but also a huge drop in revenue would be expected next year and they would have a big escrow amount to pay, they would end up losing a lot more money than what's on the table at the moment.

Goes both ways...

Something changed dramatically changed on one side??? The only explanation is something I feared would happen: THE PLAYERS SIMPLY BUCKLING. We know the owners won't buckle, there prepared to lose the season if no deal is reached. The only thing that puzzles me is that Donald Fehr is not one to buckle under.

It seems like players more ready to negotiate right now. Owners said here is our offer - yes or no and don't let Fehr back in the room.

Players said here is a response to your offer - with movement on key elements and Fehr is in the room.

Voice mail response. Hard to read anything but dumping Fehr >>>> getting a deal done right now into owners last few moves.

I have a feeling the owners will be VERY patient and wait for the union to consed on a few points. Not sure Fehr played his best hand by coming out public with his last proposal before he had heard from the owners. The moderate owners are now full speed behind Bettman, I don't see the league put anything on the table until the union conseds on those 3 points the league wants...or at least most of them.

The hand that Fehr was directed ONLY to his membership - we're close boys so hang in. Gary and Daly giggling into the phone and leaving a we're breaking up message only helped to galvanize them further. Bettman cannot throw the season away over the gap between them right now.

I could be wrong but wasn't it the players that were dragging their feet on getting the bargaining started back in July/August?

These are always deadline deals. Both owners' offer to negotiate in the summer and PA's proposal to negotiate while playing (and getting paid) were jokes.

You pro-PA guys really do have a delusional perspective of this lockout. If the owners weren't willing to lose the season, they'd of had Bettman end this thing by now. You keep making this out to be Bettman as the bad guy here when Fehr is the one playing a game of chicken that he can't win. Fehr is the sole reason we are not staring at season underway already.

Fehr was pissed that the PA had made significant progress without his involvement and decided to sabotage the process by pulling that stunt in his presser which he knew would piss off Bettman and the owners, thus putting a halt to the progress that was made and in essence delaying the possibility of the two sides coming to any kind of final agreement.

This is Fehrs fault 100%. I hope there is no season and I hope the players realize what a horrible mistake they made in hiring Fehr when they lose out on an entire years salary. I've never been a Bettman fan, but I'm behind him 100% on this garbage. Stick it to the players, bunch of snot nose spoiled millionaires trying to squeeze blood from a turnip.
