2nd highest paid player in the NHL. Already put 10 million in his jeans from the Sabres this season....I think he'll be alright. |

Ryan Miller can go (frank) himself as well as D Fehr and the players union, a union, for Pro athletes earning millions of dollars a year, how much are you earning at the moment ? Jesus freak. - MikeyOz
Exactly.
Living in Cali with his model wife and has made tens of millions for playing a game. The whole "risking their bodies" thing is a joke too. They don't think blue collar workers don't risk their bodies as well?
and Miller says the players have given a ton. What an absolute joke of a league. These players are (frank)ing pathetic. |

Ironic that you get a huge signing bonus in July and get hurt playing for pennies overseas.
Just cancel the season now and deal with the fallout in 2013 - homiedclown
as long as Shea Weber still gets paid his signing bonus |

Ennis, Myers and Hodgson injured?
Could give the Sabres the inside track on the Mackinnon sweeps if the season ever gets going. |

Both Fehr and Bettman are ruining this game but as for unions imo theres no place for them anymore anywhere. The players are getting paid to play a game if thier good enough they get paid more if not go stock shelves at walmart. - buffalo 1
Then they would be stealing your job and you would still complain about them |

If the season is cancelled, no. If not, we'll be in trouble. Both Tyler's and Hodgson injured. - sippyd
I loved Hodgson And Believe, wish he was still a Canuck. But his health is awful! |

At this point I dont think the players lose anything by holding out for everything they want. Most players have already moved onto other leagues if theyre good enough to play. Most players I think just want to work/play like most of us.Its kind of like the physical cliff bs after jan.The players cant lose anymore at this point its the owners like the last lockout who start losing money now till this is solved. - buffalo 1
Really, players could be playing for 50% of league revenues with no expenses, the owner would get 50% of league revenues with massive expenses. Who do you think loses more, the players or the owners? 2/3 of the owners are probably hoping they cancel the season as they will bleed money this year if they play.

The players lose their guaranteed salaries for the year. If the season is cancelled, you alienate fans and corporate sponsors which equates to lower hockey related revenues, which means players lose salary and the cap lowers when NHL starts up again. Not to mention that a player has a limited window in which to Play at a high enough level to earn these contracts, so lost salaries are lost forever and cant be made up. Billionaires have other investments and own companies that continue to feed their bank accounts and 18 of the thirty that lost money - don't lose money if we don't play - at least they lose less than if they were playing.
A limited number of players can play overseas due to league rules and the inability of foreign clubs to pay for the insurance that allows NHL players to play overseas. After the insurance payments, these players are making pennies on the dollar compared to their NHL salaries.
So who loses? The question is, would the members of the union voted for the latest NHL proposal if given the chance to vote on it? Regardless of what you read on here, the owners have the power, because they own companies or piles of money and can wait out the NHLPA if they choose to do so. There will always be players that want to play for the Stanley Cup and in the NHL, because the market here will almost assuredly be better than in Europe or Russia - and because this is their home. So while the players can sit out this year and even next, they will end up being the biggest losers, and its almost guaranteed that they will never be able to make up the money lost by not accepting the most recent reasonable deal presented by the NHL. It is their right to do so, but I think the Owners will play hardball and it is possible the best deal the PA will see has now been taken off the table.
The players lose money, but the fans have lost their belief that NHL players are still "the good guys" compared to other professional athletes and probably the 2012-13 season. |

One of the things I am missing due to this lockout is the interaction and mostly good natured back and forth between fans of other teams and other Sabres fans. THat is what we should be talking about. |

I love the quote from Miller how he's doing this for his brother. Please. The players need to suck it up and realize that they are employees and not owners. The players act is getting tiring. I'm already moving past the NHL and spending my time and $ elsewhere. I can't imagine that will change when these players pull their heads out of their backsides and decide to take a deal that still be very favorable compared to 99% of the working class world wide.
AND FREAKORENKO?!?!?!....where does Garth get these lame names from? The kid is not a freak. He's a very good player who plays well in an offence heavy league. Someone needs to stop Garth already. It's maddening. |

Did anyone hear that the PA and the NHL were meeting ?
Me neither.
I now return you to your previous scheduled No Hockey League Saturday.
