I agree, there has to be a basic level of coordination, balance, agility etc.

I am just saying there are a lot of guys who are very close in ability and desire and determination makes the difference.

Conversely, a guy like Patrick O'Sullivan had talent out the wazoo but frittered it away because he never worked at being the best.

yeah i get what you mean here, but you gotta have an insane amount of talent just to get to the NHL level.

i have like 300 friends in my life who play hockey, cousins, etc.

2 have played NHL
like 6 have played AHL
a few NCAA and OHL/CHL/WHL

but most, like 98% play mens league, and id say 99.99% of them would LOVE to play in the NHL but dont have the skills.

No it was 5 years initially until they realized the owners signed longer deals right before the lockout, it was a save face, read Adam Proteau of the Hockey news on that one. Even Dreger and MacKenzie as well as a few other big media types said it.

most of the players in the league right now only know the current CBA, and enjoy the 2+ million average salary... why does every NHL player who went through the 04/05 loockout who are no longer playing keep saying to take a deal..its not worth the battle in the long run.

Nah, can't see the PA not coming closer to the owners proposals.

-The PA will accept the 8+2yrs CBA contract
-They will come closer on players contract terms (they made a BIG concession yesterday)
-Big issue remains the % of variation in money during the deal
-How does the make whole money gets distrubuted (per year)

Now, will the NHL accept to have Fehr back into the meetings? I doubt it, even the owners want nothing to do with him. The league will say, Bettman is not there, Fehr won't be. How will the players deal with that?

One last thing, there is a difference between an offer/proposal and an amendment, the players made an amendment to the league proposal, it is how negotiations work, the problem is, neither Bettman/Daly and Fehr egos realize this.
