If the industry they're in generates a poop ton of money, than yea, I think those guys "deserve" the money owners are willing to pay them, regardless of whether they're doing anything constructive for humanity or whatever.

Well, that’s the thing. It doesn’t generate enough to justify what they’re getting paid. Competing teams bidding up salaries aside, the economics of the sport doesn’t justify it. I would never use the “athletes shouldn’t get millions” argument, because that’s how pro sports work. But they should be making less. Not an enormous amount less, but less. 10% to 20%.

For me? No, I've always expected they'd screw things up. The global agreement that accompanied the approval of the Kovalchuk contract was a massive red flag.

For others? Oh, there's more than a few people who are going to be shocked there's still problems - and even more who will be shocked to discover new problems in the "solutions" made to "fix" problems in the 2005 CBA.

Because the nhlpa is a marxist dictatorship ....they say they are united and want a fair deal for every member but when one guy like Hamrlik goes out of line he's considered a pariah or some players like the deal but others think they are personally getting screwed.

Seriously as much as Jacobs seems to run the show for the owners I have no idea what is the stance of PA at this point.

It's likely a small group of elected reps that have been given the authority to accept a deal or reject it. That group can then hold a vote with all members to see where they stand.

Anyway, that would be my guess.
