You mean the part where you suggest they use the media to inform their groups? I guess all those conference calls and emails they get are about the latest video games.... |

You mean the side being asked to make the concessions? Of course it's going to take them longer to get there. - golfingsince
Look, if they would have even moved slowly, I could sympathize. The fact is that they never left 57% at all. If the NHLPA would have gone from 57% to 56% to 55%, then you at least make the impression that you're negotiating in good faith. If their want to stick to 57%, fine, that's their business, but don't insult my intelligence by telling me you've given up all you can and you don't understand what the owners want, when anyone with an IQ of 36 can see that 57% is way too high to sustain.

Doing well. Hope things are well with you. Do you even care if there's hockey at this point? I mean I'll watch it but I'm indifferent I guess. |

Not all the players are involved in the conference calls. I believe they're optional except maybe for the player reps. And just because Hartnell got the emails doesn't mean he read them. |

I don't, it was a guess. However, chances are that more than 50% are getting hurt way more by missing a season or any games than what that offer would have given to them.
Out of the 700 players, most will only have 2-4 year playing careers, they will be replaced by young CHL and AHL guys who will be just as good but will cost entry lever contracts.
I'm just putting 2+2 together - l3ig_l2ecl
This is why i dont get that the players allowed "representation" to be only higher end starts with giant contracts this last week. Clearly a PR move. If I was a 3rd or 4th liner, I would be like hey we need a lot more folks like me there then we do the allstar squad. |

Post Canada strike 3 years ago. Officials from both sides were actively talking to the media.
Why? Because I love post Canada so much? No, because some people were at home watching TV rather than freeze their asses off in from of the building waving signs.
Bombardier, same thing. Representatives always talking to the media. Same reason why. Fans of Bombardier could care less of the stikes.
See my point? Media is a better tool of communication. Conference calls with 700 people don't always go too well. Most don't even pay attention. Then you get emails that contradict the info in the media. So you then can ask questions. |

They had Matthieu Darche.
Never made a million per year, only two 1 way contracts in career, and spent the whole summer as a UFA without a single offer...... |

Fine but the Matthieu Darche are much more the norms in the NHL than the Crosbys, Millers and Toews.
Why weren't they the majority in attendance |

I don't know. There should be an exact mix. There should be rookies, vets, superstars, first liners. |

I disagree completely. If anything it has been the League that has not been negotiating in good faith. Not offering anything to the other side, except to take from them. Isn't negotiating in good faith. The PA has been willing to take a lesser percentage going forward the entire time. It was just a question of how to get there. - MJL
Take from them? They gave them 50% of revenues. That's a great deal. |

I think he's the last person around that still beleives the current CBA should have been renued for another 10 years without the players making less money.
He will quote my statement and say "How do you know what I think?", but with the last weeks of argument, I think it's a safe conclusion. |

Rookies should be happy to get to play in the NHL, not come demanding to be part of the show.. Not in the old days for sure. Kids are too spoiled.
Larry Robinson in 84 or 85 won the Norris for Best D men and with bonus made $200k that year. Not that long ago. The best defence man made $200k. |

Them too. Also the goons... Basically, they should have 30 guys in that room. One from each team.
5x first Liner
5x 2nd Liner
5x 3rd Liner
5x 4th Liner
5x Goalies
5x AHL/back up players
Include A 35yo+, 18yo, top Superstar, fighter, back up goalie, star goalie, etc.... |
