And so it begins, just as Gunner said it would 2 months ago...

adater‏@adater
From deep inside players side: "We were ready to play again. But Don came in (Wed.) and told us we could get more and to hold out"

‏@adater
That deep-inside-players quote came from depth player. They want to play, but top players still in Fehr camp. Could explode soon

adater‏@adater
....privately, they are feeling powerless as the Ryan Millers and Brad Richards of the world pretend this is a sacrifice for them

Except the Richards, Millers and Crosbys would sign if Fehr wasn't in their ears telling them how much more they can get if the trust him and hold the fort.

If that's truly the best offer from the league, it's time to put a date on cancelling the season. I'd predict the rank and file would stuff Fehr in trunk and sign that last offer in a microsecond.

Be very leery of quotes like this that don't have a name applied to it.

You don't have to buy it for it to be true. Not sure why it would be such a shocker for that sentiment to be within the NHLPA ranks now.

They are hung up on contract rights that only apply to less than 10% of its members.

I've always expected that with over 700 players that everybody wouldn't be on the same page. There's been a lot of players statements with name attributed to them. Why not this one? I don't trust it.

What difference does it make. I guarantee you lot's of players feel that way.

That's a legit offer from the league and Fehr should put it to a vote. Just one of many reasons I hate unions, because most of the time, it's a oligarchy.....a few people ruling the masses. And the masses become afraid to challenge the few. Put it to a vote and see exactly how the players feel.

What makes it a legit offer? Should they put every offer to a vote? Each team has a Player Club Representative, and an alternate. They're all informed of what is going on. At any time they can take the info back to the teams. And the players can call for a vote. Fehr has no vote. I think if the majority of players feel that a vote is warranted, there would be one.

Should they put every offer to a vote? Hell yes. Why not? That's democracy. I've spent the majority of my career in a union and judging by your comments you don't know how they operate. Gunner is correct.... You've got the majority of the rank and file that will never be affected by these outstanding issues, yet somehow all those "little" guys will be forced to sacrifice for the few. Furthermore.... It's obvious you don't realize there's TREMENDOUS internal pressure put on the members to "tow the line" and remain silent.

Put it to a vote and there would be hockey in 2 weeks......guaranteed.

This rings true. It's not the 3rd and 4th liners, bottom pairing defensemen and backup goalies that are looking at the 10 year contracts. With the amount of energy being spent to fight that aspect people have to realize that this isn't about the 700 players, its about the top 50.

Yea, I don't know how they operate! But I know how the NHLPA is operating. Which is all that matters. Maybe you should realize that you don't know what I realize.

Black Ops 2 is a hot mess, unplayable. Went from a k/d ratio of 2.18 in the first Black Ops to 1.20 in this one. Lag compensation is BS. I hate Black Ops 2 as much or more than this lockout. That game was supposed to fill the void, not anger me more.

1 word.....Zombies!
I love doing the drawn out achievements(easter eggs) in zombies---never been a fan of the treyarch CODs for online matchmaking going back to World at War. If I want to play online it is Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward does 1000x better with online play in their CODs.

For all the Fehr/NHLPA outrage here, let's keep it in perspective: if Gary Bettman were anymore cool headed, he wouldn't have withdrawn literally all the offers and progress they made in an emotional display. If this were more than just obnoxious posturing on both sides (funny how it only starts once you let these two poopheels back in the room), he would've simply said his final offer has been made, and left along with the owners.

(Note: This isn't to say I think Fehr's act was a good thing, either. I figure you guys outlined it well enough already )

I sincerely doubt all the progress made this week has been thrown out, now that they've tasted the real possibility of resuming hockey. I also doubt this is the last of the posturing, now that they're feeling the pressure of putting ink to paper. Ultimately, I think they get something done by 12/15, with an outside chance the season is scrapped.

I am of the thought process that at this point you let the players lie in the bed they've made. I'm sick of them. If the reports are to be believed that they were ready to sign and they wanted to try and get blood from a rock at the last moment, let them sit out until they succumb to whatever the owners want.

Fully in the owners camp at this point. I don't care how long it takes anymore. Break this stupid union for the better of the league. Get rid of them once and for all. Stop all negotiations until they fully implode. Unless they say they will sign on the latest deal offered, no questions asked, hit the ignore button.
