There is a "relativity" factor involved here. Yes, ANY deal that the players get is going to look great to the average guy who is struggling to make ends meet and sees NHL players at the minimum salary as being extremely well compensated. This doesn't mean to say that the deal for the players was a good one in the bubble of the sports world.

Any deal that sees a rise in salary of 70% for the players is a great deal for the players in my book. While the % of any new deal would be split 50/50 and not 57/43 like it was. The pie that is being split 50/50 will certainly be bigger, which will equal more $$$$ for players.

People seem to miss that point, 50% of 3.9bil is more than 57% of 2.6bil, the players fought over % when it was always going to 50/50. They wasted money holding that up. Now they want to hold up the deal again because 15% of the players can't have their home run deal of 8+ years?

This is about the haves wanting more and the have nots being silent for fear of retribution from their brotherhood.

If the players want to believe the game of baseball is better after Fehr left it, they are crazy, the players are better off, but the game has no competitive balance to it at all... 7 different Stanley cup winners since the last lockout, MLB, how many 'dynasty' teams have won it? It's a handful of teams who get a realistic shot every year at winning.

I don't want to see that in hockey.

Here is an article that explains Philly sport fans. Assuming that is possible.

Interesting. I've seen some of his tweets, he's certainly a character. I think his last answer really hits it on the nose.

Met a nice married couple in NYC that were Pens fans. Season ticket holders. Glad to hear they were missing hockey as much as me.

Lets renew the rivalry - NOW!

I'm in. I also agree with the idea of that when the puck is dropped for each teams opening game, every fan in attendance should boo, for the first 5 minutes of the game.

You might say we have a Napoleon Complex, just trying to compensate for not being the world class city like New York. I mean, Philadelphia has plenty of history and is a legitimate city in its own right, but let's be real. Personally, I like to think of us as David challenging Goliath.
