I don't how your scoring this, mabie this is how they keep score in the bizarro world, but I'm enjoying the jibber jabber. Seems to interest me more at this moment than becoming a successful author & seeing my books ion sale at the premium book stores. Jibber jabber can a bad addiction, yes I know

trying to be the best musician out there is a competition with other musicians, and competition is the basis of sport.

Are you bashing the sport of squash or the way you played it because squash can be an extremely intense sport.

Would you rather watch your favorite musician... Justin Bieber... Live in convert?

Or see the Leafs win the Cup?

Winning argument.

No, it's true.

Ever stop to wonder why the shotgun or the blitz (short for blitzkrieg) is part of football terminology?

Soccer was invented as a war game, beheading an enemy an using it as a ball.

War is the first and ultimate sport. Generally, the sports we play and enjoy today are just less violent and involve injury rather than casualty.

- Two_For_Truth

Honestly, war has resulted in everything from changes technology to evolution of language. People played war games, as you say; the basis of which were games - maybe related to war - but not connected to the process of war itself. War is not a sport, it's not.

Your question was based on popularity, not an individual preference meaning you have to take every person into account. I might want to see the Leafs win the Cup but it doesn't mean the majority of people feel the same way. In fact, even if we use all the NHL fans as a sample, I'm pretty sure 29 out of 30 fan bases would rather watch their favorite musician than watch the Leafs win the Cup meaning music wins again.

Winning argument.

War is the ultimate sport. Sport, especially team sport, is just a way to occupy our time and hurt each other rather than kill each other.

Why is it that when a player makes an attempt to score, he is "shooting" on net?

I already answered your rhetoric. Those terms, translated to conventional sport terminology, probably originated from war. The actual process of war is not a sport, to reduce its meaning to a sporting event is insulting.

Komarov making the third line? I didn't think that would be a likely possibility.

I enjoy comparing baseball and football:

Baseball is a nineteenth-century pastoral game.
Football is a twentieth-century technological struggle.

Baseball is played on a diamond, in a park. The baseball park!
Football is played on a gridiron, in a stadium, sometimes called Soldier Field or War Memorial Stadium.

Baseball begins in the spring, the season of new life.
Football begins in the fall, when everything's dying.

In football you wear a helmet.
In baseball you wear a cap.

Football is concerned with downs - what down is it?
Baseball is concerned with ups - who's up?

In football you receive a penalty.
In baseball you make an error.

In football the specialist comes in to kick.
In baseball the specialist comes in to relieve somebody.

Football has hitting, clipping, spearing, piling on, personal fouls, late hitting and unnecessary roughness.
Baseball has the sacrifice.

Football is played in any kind of weather: rain, snow, sleet, hail, fog...
In baseball, if it rains, we don't go out to play.

Baseball has the seventh inning stretch.
Football has the two minute warning.

Baseball has no time limit: we don't know when it's gonna end - might have extra innings.
Football is rigidly timed, and it will end even if we've got to go to sudden death.

In baseball, during the game, in the stands, there's kind of a picnic feeling; emotions may run high or low, but there's not too much unpleasantness.
In football, during the game in the stands, you can be sure that at least twenty-seven times you're capable of taking the life of a fellow human being.

And finally, the objectives of the two games are completely different:

In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.

In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! - I hope I'll be safe at home!

Ya but what about us who hate Beiber? Mabie the 1st question should be this: think of one of your all time fav bands that are A) no longer together and B) you never saw them in concert but you always wish you had. Now the 2nd question is: Would you go back in time to see this band live or would you rather see your current fav hockey team win the Stanley Cup? Me being a life long Leaf fan.

So for me, my dream would have been to see Led Zeppelin with John Bonham at Maple Leaf Gardens in the 70's. So would I rather see Zepp with Bonham or see the current Leafs win the Cup??????

Honestly, I think I choose to see Zeppelin. I see it as mabie a once in a lifetime chance to see my fav band of all time in their hey day where as the Leafs, every season, all 30 teams have a chance to win the cup. So I choose Zeppelin.

What do you think Burke should do with Rielly if a cba is resolved?
Burke has stated that Rielly would be invited to training camp once it starts. But he is basically a lock for team Canada. If these two camps occur at the same time which is the best route for his development?
I dont believe its fair to put rielly on canada if he doesnt attend the full camp, nor do i think he should dress for the leafs this season if he cant prove himself for a full camp. If the lockout ends after the jr tournament i feel it will hurt his development missing so much time from his jr team and theres no room for him in the ahl if he is on the cusp of a roster spot. So basically i say he should be sent to the jr camp/tournament then back to the whl regaurdless of possible cba outcomes and he should be told now to get his head straight. Whats your thoughts?

The Leafs backed themselves into a corner with Holzer & Komarov both guranteeing them spots on the Leaf roster. If they struggle the Leafs will be in a pickle, Holzer who is signed to a one way deal they'll lose him on waivers if they send him to the AHL. While Komarov will bolt to Europe in a hissy fit & the Leafs will never see him again.

Wait a minute. You mean to tell me you can go back in time and you choose to go back to 1970 and watch Led Zeppelin at Maple Leaf Gardens?

Think about that for a second. You have the capability to not only go back in time but to choose when and where you go and you pick 1970. Never mind the fact that they didn't make IV until 1971 but you go to a time that is exactly three years after the Leafs win a Stanley Cup?

Considering Led Zeppelin was formed in 1968, I think I'd go back to 1967, watch the Leafs win the Cup and just stick around for a few years.

It's a good argument that I've brought up at parties before just for the debate.

The two and so intertwined into our social fabric that its impossible to pick a clear winner.

Can debate for hours.

I agree... If holzer cant cut it now i dont know if he ever really will. Maybe him and komisarek will go halfs to get their box. And komarov is sketchy, might thrive under the leafs new system or just be a risk on the ice. Id be happy if burke only picked him up to elbow gionta in the head
