The ONLY thing that makes me sorta look at this, is the fact that Dreger, Lebrun or BMac haven't turned it down like they do other crazy rumors.
Apparently Daly denied it, but I don't expect him to be running with his shirt off around yelling "WE HAVE A DEAL, WE HAVE A DEAL WOOOO" either - cor99
The Thrashers still belong to Atlanta — for now.
Commissioner Gary Bettman, deputy commissioner Bill Daly, and True North Sports and Entertainment denied a report last night that a deal has been reached to sell the team to True North, which would relocate the team to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I get the idea that Jacobs thinks real highly of himself. Maybe he told this guy that with the meeting coming up today, he, Jacobs, was confident that he could get this thing done and get back to business.
with this news, shouldn't the "Optimism Meter" be at "Sharpen the Blades"?
i mean, fleeing mediators saying that these guys are to far apart got us to the "Hump".

UPDATE: Did a little digging on Steve Burton and he did break the Kessel Testicular cancer story a few years back...which tells you he has connects high up at the team who trust him...and everything through Boston goes through Jacobs...Like Jacobs or not, I dont doubt Bettman would tell Jacobs news like this before he would tell almost any one... - Eklund

That would be funny.
Reporter: What are your thoughts on the meetings tomorrow, Mr. Jacobs?
Jacobs: points hockey stick down the rink, aimed right side top shelf I'm gonna put this one where mama hides the cookies, kid. We'll be playing by the end of next week.
Team captain Daniel Sedin was one of the players that spoke to the Vancouver Province.
"I think from Day 1, this has fallen into what we really thought was going to happen," Sedin told the paper. "I don't know if they [owners] think they're dealing with kids or that we're stupid or think the fans are stupid. It's a little mind-boggling when you see what's coming out of their side. I want to hear a change, that they're actually going to give us something in return for the things we've given them.
"I doubt that may happen tomorrow [Tuesday] but it's a start. It's good to see that there are new owners coming into the meeting, but the bad thing is there are still some of the tight group that has been there since Day 1. That's a concern."
Defenceman Kevin Bieksa stated that the players don't want to give up on the season, but the players wonder what the owner's agenda really is.
"That's the one thing we've kind of been puzzled by in this whole negotiation," he said. "When do they want to settle and what do they want to settle for? Is it just a money issue or the contracting rights and what are the reasons for them? Owners doing it face-to-face [Tuesday] with players on their team and to look those guys in the eye, it should be good."
I'm expecting lockout to end so that first game will be played next weeks thursday since I saw a dream last night where it was thursday and watched tv and got surprised that season had begun so based on my dream which is pretty good source i agree lockout ends in the next 48 hours

Not sure why a guy (Pomminville) that is usually 'in touch' with the pulse of the league, not to mention being the Sabres Captain would decide at this point to pick up and go play for his teammate Jochen Hechts team in Germany.
Pommers has been here practicing with Ott and other Sabres an now he has decided to go play overseas. I dont know , doesnt make much sense .
Pommers has his finger on the pulse so respectively, I just dont believe any of the positives. I think the season is going to hell in a hand basket and Pommers knows it and that's why he is leaving finally to go play in Germany.
I guess I am on the side that says I will believe it when I SEE IT ! - BuffaloHardHat
.....OR its because he knows a season is imminent and he wants to get in his game up to the game speed thatll be necessary once the season begins.
